Hey guys, I'm a copywriter looking to JV with product owners. My plan is to contact sellers on Clickbank and offer to rewrite their copy for a percentage of profits, provided I can increase conversion.

I've read about the "Traditional JV Contract" on Clickbank, but there's some details I wonder about.

If I entered into a traditional JV, how would I know if the product owner is seeing a conversion lift? As a partner would I have access to the before and after sales stats? Otherwise, I'd just be going on trust which seems like a good way to get burnt.

Anyone have any experience with copywriting JV's like this?

I've tried the Clickbank JV gig thing. Didn't work for me. Most of them don't have the money/aren't educated on the importance of copy. Those who are and have the money and regularly spend decent money on copy won't take your proposal without seeing previous results under your belt.

A better idea would be to take a product, rewrite the sales page, buy some traffic to split test and if you get a higher %, THEN you email the product owner and offer to sell him the new page. This way you build your portfolio and there's no risk of getting burnt.

If a copywriter approaches a product owner to do a JV then just
know you are coming from a very weak position. Can it work?
Maybe. But the first thought the product owner gets is why
don't you want to be paid for your services if you are that
good and confident? Simply because you are offering your
service without risk doesn't mean that the product owner would
    want to use it.

I received an email with a similar proposal, but the offer was a bit overwhelming. So I suggested that the sender do everything he proposed as an affiliate. Is there any reason why you couldn't use the copy on your own blog or site as an affiliate of the product? That way, you don't have to deal with rejected proposals, and you get to test the effectiveness of your copy at the same time.

Thanks for the replies everyone. The main reason I'm trying this method is that is was recommended to me by two very successful copywriters (well known and respected on these boards) who I reached out to privately.

I've been doing the Upwork/Elance thing for a few months now and have had success with it, but I'm much more interested in working with IM entrepreneurs, rather than the mostly corporate clients I've been getting. And this seems like a workable strategy to build a real portfolio of sales letters and VSLs in the dating niche, which is where I want to focus.

As far as becoming an affiliate for products goes, the truth is I just want to write. I don't have a lot of experience building websites or generating/buying traffic. But I can write, and feel like it makes more sense to double down on that in these early stages.

Is that a limiting belief? I don't know, but I'm open to suggestions from some of the more experienced folks here.

It is an idea that is often thrown around these parts but is often given to a
copywriter just starting out and want to prove his chops. I'm not saying it
cannot work but just keep in mind that you are at a huge disadvantage.
But everyone has to start somewhere.

At the same time some copywriters swear that writing on spec works
for them while others avoid it like the plague.

  • There are plenty of product owners developers out there -who will pay you for your services.

they need good copy...track them down.

the only people, I would only JV with are large companies, and even then there is an upfront fee.and it's still risky.

Even if you're successful- how keen will the owner be to send you money every month/every year?
    Eaten bread is soon forgotten.

here's a better idea... find a good product in a good market on Clickbank -and re-write the copy.
to make it better. Get a freelancer to re-write their product.so there are copyright issues.
    launch it as your own,

    Hey KP Mane,

I've been creating Kindle products for a while and created Clickbank products and I know a big part of the success is copywriting and I'm not very good with copywriting so I would love to JV to launch products so I would definitely be interested in doing a JV
