Help Me To Help You See The Value In This Ministry

So I need some help in rethinking how I need to position my website and ministry altogether. I thought is would be the best place to get that help.

The ministry is called On The Line Ministries and the link to it is here: Bible Studies For A Solid Faith - On The Line Ministries

Focus of The Ministry

The focus of this ministry is to provide solid Biblical education to Christians. I believe that one of the greatest reasons there are so many divisions in Christianity comes from a lack of knowledge about what the Bible really says. This comes from very basic foundational problems such as Christians not knowing why they believe what they do.

So the ministry focuses on teaching the basics one subject at a time (from the question of the existence of God, where the Bible came from, all the way to end time prophecy) until Christians can come to an understanding of not only what the Bible says, but also how to understand the Bible for themselves. The end goal is to build very well informed Christians who can think for themselves to know why they believe what they do rather than just believing because their pastor or favorite preacher told them what to believe.

You can see how the flow works in the Christianity 101 section.

The Problem

While every Christian will tell you how important they believe knowing and understanding the Bible is many simply do not think or meditate on these things. Again, this is why there is such a lack of knowledge. Because while we believe it is important, we also don't treat it as such.

Now the obvious fact is that you don't need someone else to tell you what the Bible says if you pick it up yourself. But we are all human and as such we sometimes miss things. A good example is 2 people looking at a sign with one thing printed on the front and another on the back. They may contradict each other if they never see both sides, but a 3rd person may be able to bridge the gap in that knowledge.

My Question

So how can this ministry most effectively make people want to take in all of the information provided? On The Line Ministries is basically trying to be that 3rd person bridging the gap in understanding. But how can I help people to see the value in that?

In my opinion, your website would get more traction if you addressed specific, painful problems that Christians experience.

Some examples: self-condemnation, ineffective prayer life, lack of patience.

Showing Christians how to overcome problems like those (and others) would be very helpful.

That probably is true and I think the Bible studies section would be able to meet that need, but the real goal I have is to get people to understand the basics. Do you believe addressing these problems would transfer into that traffic taking in the Christianity 101 course? Or would something more be needed?

        Listen to Alex.

You can't "get people to" do anything.

The thing you "should" be focusing on is CHANNELING your market's desires into your program.

Find out what your market currently wants and figure out how to give it to them.

    jbearnolimits,

You've received some excellent advice so far.....

There is a saying, "Sell them what they want. Sneak in what they need." I have no idea who said that.... :-) But, that is essentially what you want to do.

They don't want to learn about the Bible... They want to solve their life problems or wipe out fear....

    Here are some additional ideas....

    Problems:

    Marital Infidelity
    Lack of Financial Prosperity
    Lack of Health
    Infertility
Cannot Forgive Family/Spouse for Past "Wrongdoings"
Desire to Control People And Events
Cannot Forgive Themselves for Past "Wrongdoings"

    Fears:

    Spouse Cheating
    Might Get Fatal Disease
    May "Lose" Their Salvation
Children May Be Kidnapped or Harmed

As you can see, fears and problems frequently run together.....

You help them "cure" their fears and problems by weaving Biblical references into your materials.

Wise as a snake, harmless as a dove.
