writing a special "unsubscribe successfull page"

Hey warriors,

i'm looking to build a dedicated page that after a user unsubscribes from my mailing list (forex niche) he will be redirected to a page that basically says: sorry to hear you're leaving, take a moment to tell us why, in case you change your mind click here to re-subscribe...

and i'm looking for some creative ideas to make it more effective

would love to hear your opinion,

Thanks!
Ori

In my opinion, I never answer those things. I don't know about other people but I don't want to tell you my reason. It's just unsubscribe!

from a marketing perspective, i think that leaving a great experience, even when a person unsubscribes, is better than the general unsubscribe text...it also helps keeping some of the people who unsubscribed by providing them a reason to change their minds

i've seen some nice examples in here: 9 Effective Email Unsubscribe Pages

Just be very polite, brief, and ask a favor.

        For example:

"{Name}, we're really sorry to see you go. Hopefully we can work together in the future. If you wouldn't mind doing us a quick favor, we'd love to hear your feedback so that we can improve our experience for others... we want to hear what you have to say, and may change what we do as a result. If you would, please kindly take a moment to let us know why you unsubscribed".

        {Dropdown box} .... I don't know, something like that.

You could go even further with this and give them a personal benefit for submitting feedback.

Maybe "If you like, we would be glad to send you a notification when we implement your valuable feedback. This way, not only will others enjoy the improvements of your generosity, you can too -- just check this box to..."

Since they wanted to unsubscribe from getting e-mails in the first place this could piss them off. But it could work, since a notification doesn't really come off as an e-mail.

Curious what others think about this.

Yea, I think you're right about people not wanting to receive further communications, and also, that might be a pain to keep track of who submitted what, and then inform them all.

            A good thought though.

    Here's a better idea...

After the "Unsubscribe Successful" text, put a 300x250 display ad which links to a Forex product via your affiliate link.

I've seen IMers make sales that way.
