How has your knowledge of copywriting/selling impacted you as a buyer?

You are personally interested in a service/product and you come across a sales page.

Do you approach it differently than an average consumer who knows nothing about this?

How so?

    Sure, why wouldn't it?

If you know about cars, or dealership operations, you're going to approach car buying with a different approach than the average Joe, aren't you.

Seeing a bit of copy that's doing its job is a thing to appreciate. You can see the thing and know what it's doing, and still be affected by it.

I can't say it inoculates you from effective copy, but you will view it with some detachment.

The sense I have is all things being equal, and I really wanted this thing, I'd be happy to buy from the provider who had the better sales letter. Kinda makes sense when you think about it...

Knowing the "tricks of the trade" have made it much easier to separate the wheat from the chafe.

Therefore, when an offer does hit my sweet spot, I don't hesitate to buy.

Many times in face to face selling I let the sales person know that I am
into sales as well and they often relax and drop their "sales talk" and
just level with me. whenever I am making an important buying decision
I would do all my research ahead of time so buying is just the last step.
By that time I just need confirmation rather than a sales pitch.

Either way, I like to see when things are sold well, and get turned off
when the sales letter or person is sloppy.

Yes it has changed the way I view what is being offered. When I see things for sale now, especially when it's done with professional copywriting it's almost like looking at "the emperors new clothes". In all honesty the knowledge I've gained thus far in both copywriting and advertising has caused me to do a lot less buying.
