What is the convertion rate of direct-response in our days????

Hi guys of Warrior Forum, i just got signed in and i m thrilled to find out how much experts are here!! I recently started as a salesman for a software company that provides internet marketing and apps b2b. They didn t gave us any leeds just said go door to door and cold call.I m not a great fan of this tool cuz they don t work so well in our days.. Searching on the internet for something to get leeds i found a guy, a ''master salesman'' from my country,Italy that teaches salesmanship,and he says that if you want to be a successful salesman in our days you have to be a good direct marketer.. Now, i know that direct marketing is a farely old tool and i don t know much about it.. DOES DIRECT MARKETING WORK WELL IN OUR DAYS?? What is the conversion rate of such type of marketing?? Thanks in advance!!

    Conversions? They're all over the map. You always here the typical 1-2%. But when I was in real estate I was getting under 1% for farming neighborhoods, and over 20% when sending direct to expired listings.
