Using a sticker to sell?

This is just a shot in the dark so I figured I would ask the pro's.

In my line of work, when we go to a customers house or business on a service call we always put a business card sized sticker on the customer's electrical panel with our company name and contact info. This way they always have our info, especially at times when something electrical goes wrong and they go to the panel to look.

I need to order more stickers and I was wondering if I should change it up at all. Instead of just our company name and contact info, should I add any text to try and upsell?

"Hey You! Need Any Help? Call Me Now!"

Something like that?

Good or bad?

  • Yes, an excellent idea.

    So after the contact details...

The copy could remind the customers that they know and can trust you and whatever the problem is you can sort it out.

    Something like this.

"Remember you know us, and we know how to fix any electrical problem - safely and quickly"

    The upsell could be -

"Need anything new? - let us give you our best quote - affordable professional work - fully guaranteed"

Now they may not be spending a huge amount of time looking at the fuse panel, so why not give them a fridge magnet as well as a sticker.

Could lead to new business and referrals a bit faster (rather than waiting for an electrical "fault" that might never happen).

On my fridge is a magnetic flashlight. I use it often. I KNOW where the fridge is, I can find it on the darkest of nights for a late snack. I always put the flashlight back on the fridge.

Every time I use it, the name of my electrician comes on, he glows in the dark.

Because he gave me this "life saver", I have called him for whatever I needed done, large or small jobs. You couldn't buy that flashlight from me, but if he was really smart...

he'd send me a couple of batteries twice a year.

Give them more than a sticker...light up their darkness, sparkster.

    True story...

I needed examples of people using fridge magnets for marketing in one of my books and I called up Barbara Winter, author of Making a Living Without a Job. She said she had a great example for me and put down the phone to pluck the magnet from her fridge.

When she came back she told me that, to her surprise, the magnet had the name of the business but not the contact information! So not only could she not pass this lead along to me for my book but none of the customers could use it to call the company for repeat business.

Amazing that this crucial detail was overlooked.

    "Mistakes were made."
