(Physical) Mailing lists for Sales Letters?

Hello all,

Newbie here. I've been consuming all the sales letter writing information I can get my hands on, but one thing I never see mentioned in these resources is the issue of acquiring physical postal addresses for physical letter campaigns.

Yes, I understand that online sales letters have many advantages, but suppose that I have a product I'm sure would fare better from an old fashioned postal campaign? How would I go about getting the addresses to send to? Can these mailing list generators you find online be trusted? Or is there another (perhaps less expensive) way to get viable addresses?

Grateful for your input,
-A.T.L.

For a start, know the difference between compiled lists,
    enquired and buyer lists.

Those that have bought a product or service
similar or will be needed, make the most responsive ones.

The other group is those that have big changes in their lives.

    Like...
    birth
    engagement
    wedding
    divorce
    bankruptcy
    new mover
    new home buyer
    new business
    new web hosting
    new investor funding
recently got home from staying in a hotel
    booked a trade show booth
    leased a new office, warehouse.
    leased a new vehicle, machinery
bought a vintage car out of town
bought a ticket to a out of town convention
    late for filing taxes

    ...plus a whole lot more.

Then we can get into if they have the money to buy the high priced things.

Like if you replaced windows in homes,
we can come up with those that recently bought in a older suburb
and have over $50,000 equity in their home they can borrow against.

If you had a health food store we can find all the buyers of natural and organic
foods within a 5 mile radius of the store. Actual buyers of products based
from their credit and debit card use.

If you want to reach buyers of a branded product
bought at a branded business, then we can get that
    for you.

    Lot's of other options.

What product or service are you planning to promote,
so I can better help you?

    Best,
    Ewen
