Writing for internet marketers, vs other niches

I know this is an internet marketing forum, and yet I also see the advice for a copywriter to pick a niche. Usually the adviser implies picking something with more of an offline focus.

Which begs the question...

How are internet marketers as a niche, compared to a focus on health, financial, or other niches?

Does anyone work with them exclusively? Is there good money? Is it a small pond or big pond (strictly in the domain of "well paying jobs")?

Internet Marketers are not a niche. In fact, health, financial and even investment services are big time consumers of COPYWRITERS who write Internet Marketing materials.

The offline focus is a blur. Agora is a prime example, with their click bait ads on gold, the future collapse of society, etc. And using the same type of copy as a hard copy sent in the mail.

If you are just starting your copywriter's career, one thing you might consider is to try to identify markets and niches in which you are a consumer, so you are aware of the type of copy used. Then solicit work from these companies.

On this forum, more often than not, IM refers to Make Money Online, which is a niche of the bigger Business Opportunity market, those people looking to make a buck. Even within this field, the copy varies widely, so look for products and services you might like to represent with your copy.

But, the thinking that there is a specific difference between IM and Offline is going to get you more confused, and not help your goal, which I assume is to get work, and get higher paying jobs as a copywriter.

There are those here who specialize in the WSO type of "hype" copy, which works well for some of the MMO niches and certain Clickbank products, but there are a few who are writing for bigger marketing companies who have the knowledge and the money to test and hire people who can sell their products.

Gordon is in good company when he says Internet Marketing is not a niche. Dan Kennedy is quite vocal about the issue as well.

That said, the indisputable fact is that many marketers confine their efforts to online only. And unlike Gordon, I believe that focusing on both online and offline marketing at the same time adds unnecessary complexity. There are enough differences between the two, that focusing on one or the other is not the best idea, especially for newcomers.

Perhaps the OP was thinking of biz op, MMO, and "magic buttons" when he used the term "Internet Marketing".

    OP?

To clarify, my current repeat clients have me write offers for online markets only. Yes, the niches I write for are indeed diverse with some extra focus on weight loss and MMO. I should have been more clear and asked about writing for online focused clients vs predominantly offline clients like financial services companies.
