What books, articles, gurus, blogs would you recommend for copywriting in 2017?

This is the one area I'm missing and weak in... and want to master in 2017.

If you don't know how to copywrite, you can't effectively market.... so in desperate need to learn the tricks of the trade on this.

A good place to start would be with "The Copywriters Handbook" by Robert Bly

You can get a copywriting education for free though....

Study the best converting sales pages. Look at how the headlines are constructed. Look at the flow of the sales copy, how the writer spotlights problems that will resonate with the visitors. Then see how they reveal the solution to all the problems. Watch how these solutions are sold in a couple of different ways through the copy.

Keep a "swipe file" of the best headlines and ways copywriters build desire and curiosity.
This swipe file will become your best friend over time

I would say not really "new" need to look at, but the classics which still 100% apply today.

To name a few...Like breakthrough advertising (which suggest reading after learned from other books since is more complex), joe sugarman's adweek copywriting handbook, john caple's tested advertising methods, claude hopkin's scientific advertising.

    Those are great start.

There's a sticky in the copywriting section of this forum that lists all the classics. I would also suggest joining some of the copywriting groups in Facebook such as Cult of Copy.

We seek the ancients for spiritual guidance
We seek the retired for wisdom
We seek the experienced for knowledge
We seek the guru for training
We seek the map for treasure
We seek the masters for writing copy

Start with Collier. Then Caples. Bly by all means. Round off with a hint of Dan Kennedy. Nail it all together with Lewis. But do not forget to tap into Cialdini, Ries and Trout

I would suggest this website: CMI: Content Marketing Strategy, Research, "How-To" Advice

I was new to content marketing myself recently, and the Content Marketing Institute has taught me almost everything I know.

    Good luck!

Unfortunately, content marketing is quite distinct from copywriting. So you may need to go on another learning binge.

There's over a 100 books on copywriting in the Sticky...

    ... thereby making it WORTHLESS.

Unless of course you plan to print the list out, tack it up on the wall, and throw darts at it.

25 bux gets you the only book you need. I guarantee it is not on the list.

It won't be used as a dart board, but every A list copywriter has a copy (but probably won't admit it).

This is only for those who want speed, not study. Technique to use today, not delay. Money now, not later.

If this is you, then the book you want to get today is:

PS. Actually, it is a primer for beginners. But read before ANY copy writing manual. Then pick up YES by Goldstein, Martin, and Cialdini, subtitled 50 Scientifically Proven Ways to Be Persuasive, then begin your copy writing adventure.
