At least 7 words, maybe more.

  • If on TWITTER then only 160 Characters.

Best to use the number that gets the point across and have a link and real contact information for any legitimate journo to get hold of you for further material.

    Best regards,

    Ozi
  • In a former life I did some work with a major news publisher here in Australia. Basically, for a news article that is simply covering the facts of an event, they'll aim for 600 words. That's pretty much what you should go for as well.

  • If anything, 300 words is a good starting point.

You don't want to go overboard and bore your audience with 1000 word press releases. I'd say, get your point across.

After drafting your release, cut off any added fluff that might detract your readers from understanding what you're trying to give them.
  • How many do you need to describe your news?

That's how many you should use.

  • 300-600 words as a base
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • In my previous work I wrote a standard press release for 2000 characters with a space - for basics and simple www. Better quality texts had at least 2500 characters with space - website with high pr.
  • 300-500 words would be better. Not less than 300 words and more than 500 could be too long. Using too many links makes the press release quite spammy.
