Best Freelance Websites for Copywriting Work?

Hi,

Are big freelance sites (e.g. Upwork, Freelancer) still the best places to look for online copywriting jobs? Or are there better options?

I'd prefer not to work for a "content mill" (have a bad experience working with one), so if you could give me suggestions where I can look to avoid these types of clients then that would be great.

Thanks!

    Hey Simon,

There is lots of work on these sites which are good for building your portfolio. But the pay is normally pretty poor and the competition is strong - plus to get lots of pitches for jobs you need to pay for a subscription.

This site is good for jobs and if you look around the internet you will find lots of sites which suggest other places to pitch for jobs. Check out writers job board or even Indeed.

Long term I think it is best to build business relationships and find your own clients directly. Lay lots of groundwork, shake lots of hands, be friendly and knowledgeable without going for the hard sell and you should start to find people coming to you...!

    Good luck.
