Please help me find some statistics about good copywriting.

I'm writing a sales letter for my copywriting business and I'm trying to prove the ROI on good copywriting outweighs the cost.

I can't find any statistics about the value or effectiveness of good copywriting. There are a lot about print marketing, online marketing, social media, but none that prove the effectiveness of good copywriting over bad copywriting or that copywriting is valuable at all.

I'm sure they are out there, but I googled for over an hour to no avail.

Thanks All,

That is very funny, because many people in the field define "good copywriting" as that which - through testing - is proven to bring in more money.

Most companies that spend a lot of money on copywriting are always testing. Very few publish their findings. Occasionally they'll reveal numbers in case studies, but these case studies are always particular and never general.

So my conclusion is that you have a fundamental misunderstanding about copywriting and therefore are looking for evidence in the wrong places and with the wrong assumptions.

    Sorry Brother,
But there's really no way for you to "prove" ROI from your next copywriting assignment.

Like Marcia alluded to... The best you can do is provide some case-studies from past projects. But that's still no indication of future results.

And it's the same for the statistics you found on other forms of marketing... Past results are no indication of future results. And any future projections are little more than educated guesses, based on past performance. (that's why companies spend millions of dollars "testing" their marketing funnels, instead of just doing things that are guaranteed to work every time)

So you can show some examples of past ROI in your sales copy. But anything other than that, is just rhetoric.

Now, as far as convincing your audience of the effectiveness of YOUR copywriting... Well, as a copywriter, that sounds like the bulk of your entire job in this particular sales piece
