What did I do wrong for zero converions?

I get zero conversion on (link to charity site removed) - even though it's free. Does anyone know what is wrong, surely helping chatirty for free is easy to market?

  • Not sure why you posted this in 'copywriting' but the copywriting on that site is...not great.

Your site doesn't live up to your hype. You say 'free' but then want people to spend time - and you mention 'donations' quite often. Below the photo you have the statement:

Why would I stay on a site where someone labels me 'useless'?

You need to consider how many charitable sites exist now - how many 'funding' options people can use. Your 'pitch' is for people to help YOU be charitable and it's not a great pitch.

If you want forum members to see your charitable site - add it to your sig.can't post link in discussion. Thanks.

  • Maybe you are selling this help where people will not find it?
  • Without the link I can only speculate, but I'm guessing you fell into two marketing traps: 1) You adopted an "If I build it, they will come," mentality; 2) You spent the whole time focusing on yourself and not the client. These are very common errors and pretty much guarantee low-to-no conversion, among other factors.

The fix involves figuring out how your website helps users in a way no one else can, then focusing on that in your copywriting. It's less about saying, "You need me to help you," and more about saying, "I can help you find what you need."

  • I don't remember where I first read this, and have read it a LOT of times since then.
It's still so true and so apt today.

Here it is: If you help enough other people get what they want in life, you can have everything you want...and then moreso.
