Email Autoresponder Series Question

Hello all,

I want to put together a squeeze page (IM niche) with a 7 day autoresponder course series and send it out every other day. My questions is: is it recommended to start putting some affiliate links at the bottom of some of the lessons? For instance, day 1-3 (no link), day 4 (link), days 5-6 (no link), day 7 (link).

Or is it a better idea to have separate emails that are totally devoted to marketing a specific product?

For instance, either do 7 lessons first and then start sending out emails focusing on preselling the product or mix them up as in:

Lessons 1-3 (no links)
Marketing email
Lessons 4-5 (no links)
Marketing Email
Lesson 6 (no links)
Marketing Email

What is the best approach for better conversions? Any suggestions? Thank you.

Arek

I'd have a link in every email. You can't sell without a link.

It could be a link to a page with more teaching materials... with affiliate links on the side as advertisements. Or maybe the teaching material will naturally conclude that they need to click on an affiliate link.

In any case, you can test this. Just set up two different lists, one using each method, and then use split test software to pit one list against the other. (As an affiliate, it might be easiest to use two different aff IDs to track sales.)

    Good luck,

What Stephen said. Never miss a chance to market. I feel like an email without any links is a wasted opportunity. The key is to getting the click without them ever feeling like they're being "sold". It's an art form, but it can be done.

Yes, Jay and Stephen are right. Your emails need to be very clear about what you want the reader to do... and then they need to make it as easy as possible for your reader to do it.

Offer a link several times! Tell them to use the link! Taylor your words towards what they get and how deliriously happy they will be once they click your link. (ie, click here and you'll learn so much really neat tips and tricks about X that your friends and relatives won't leave you alone because you'll suddenly be the best Xer they know!)

      Or something like that,

Below is a model that have worked well for me and my clients
over the past 8 years or so of writing autoresponder emails.
This series is attached to an optin page which promises the
subscriber a special report on the product of interest.

I share the details in my autoresponder series writing ebook
you can check in my signature.

Letter 1 - Thank you for sending for the report /more information, here's the link.

Letter 2 - Hope you got the report; here are some reasons why you'll want my product.

Letter 3 - Here are some questions people are ASKING about my product. (FAQ)

Letter 4 - Here are what people are SAYING about my product. (Testimonials.)

Letter 5 - Here are some of the strongest BENEFITS to getting my product. (Limited Offer)

Letter 6 - Time is running out on the special BONUS. How I beat the competition.

Letter 7 - What's keeping you back from ordering? Knock down objections.

Letter 8 - Other people who ordered are already enjoying the benefits, don't lose out.

Letter 9 - Here's a LIMITED offer--price reduction, sneak preview, secret link etc.

Letter 10 - Frankly I'm puzzled that you haven't ordered yet. Final hard sell.

Some people swear about mailing everyday while others use a different
tempo, but a lot would depend on your niche and the relationship you
    have with your list.

I wrote several dozen emails for a client last year and the one that generated the most response by far was one that had no links in it. Lots of readers wrote to my client thanking him for the inspiring story in the email. Even though there wasn't a link in the email there was still marketing involved because it helped build trust and a rapport with his list, which leads to increased sales over the long term. Also, when you receive a lot of emails from your readers, that's a valuable thing. It gives you more insights into your market.

If you're sending emails regularly to your list then I think you should mix it up once in a while and keep things fresh. Go ahead and send a story with no links from time to time.

      Ray's system is great.

Incidentally.. you can see the similarities to a sales letter.

In fact Jeff Walker's Product Launch Formula is similar.

Instead of the one sales letter... you do it piece by piece.
