A question on starting an eNewsletter/eZine

Hello Warriors & Copywriters,

I've been meaning to start my own newsletter since early last year; what's stopping me is the shroud of fear of the unknown. Specifically, it's what to expect, especially if that enewsletter/ezine is to be a successful project.

Your input on what to expect on the editorial side and how to maintain the readers' interests for a premium/paid version would be highly appreciated.

Thanks in advanced!

A newsletter is like any other written piece. The object is to provide your readers with massive value. Don't be afraid of giving a lot of excellent content away. If you want to have success you'll need subscribers. And to get those subscribers you'll need to deliver valuable content, information that people will not only enjoy reading, but will look forward to receiving in each edition of the letter.

And usually, to get them to subscribe to your newsletter you'll need to offer a free report of some kind. This is where you want to really impress them. Create a report that contains so much useful information that they'll be waiting on needles and pins to get the letter.

And that leads to the logical and final conclusion. After you've established yourself as someone who provides value, you can start to offer paid information. If you've done a good job in providing value with your newsletters people should be happy to pay for your information. Good luck.

As for paid versions, I print an offline copywriting newsletter and mail it out every month. I don't even make it available online at all. This is for several reasons, mostly because print media still gets more peceived value than a bunch of electrons. Also, here is Australia, there just ain't that much in your mail box besides really bad catalogs and flyers. Though I do have subscribers around the world. And you wouldn't believe how low my cancellation rate for this thing is.

I had a paid newsletter in the wellness health sector I was coaching. It was a print version.

Our main aim was to have a varied range of good money making info in it. My reasoning comes from the newspaper industry where there is something for everyone - you need to do the same.

I don't know what your niche is, but because were business owners, we critiqued ads every issue as part of the overall package.

If you want an electronic copy of one, just PM me and I'll send you an old issue.

Think "Membership site" using Wordpress. Like this (no affiliation) - Membership Software | Wordpress Membership Site Plugin | WishList Member

Google "membership sites Wordpress" - there's a bunch of plug-ins available.
