9 out of 10 girls should
make this "Armhole
Odor" test..

Tonight, when you take
off your dress, smell the
fabric at the armhole -
that is the way you smell
to others!

Great old print ad I saw on boingboing.net today. Here's the source - Vintage Ad

or

9 out of 10 copywriters should
make this "Stinky
Copy" test..

Tonight, when you finish
your work, smell the
copy on the page -
that is the way it smells
to others!

Man I need to go get me some "Armhole"! Maybe 9 out of 10 people can show me where to get some.

    Might help my copy.

Subtle nails it again. You gotta wonder what those sheilas are doing. Sniff test? Looking for nits? What exactly? Bit of 'armless fun.

That's too funny. But the original ad does make sense, your B.O combined with your perfume and pit stick would combine to what you smell like.

Next thing you know they will make scratch and sniff copy LOL.

What a concept! I actually pitched that to a client about 20 years ago. No kidding. When those scratch 'n' sniffs mailouts were all the rage. They didn't go for it.

      From Wiki -
Today, scratch and sniff stickers, in particular the older "matte" stickers, are highly collectible and sought after by collectors. Auctions for original vintage packaged stickers have seen bids go in to the multiple hundreds of dollars on eBay.

That Wiki quote is surprising. I've still got all sorts of scratch and sniff stickers from when I was a kid (alright it wasn't that long ago so I don't think they would be considered vintage...) What business were they in that scratch and sniff could've worked? I could see it for the food industry, or perfume industry, but not sure where else it would fit.

reminded me of these old ads. The hygene market was literally created
starting around the 1890s by advertising guys like Claude Hopkins.

Some of the ads are much more extreme.
