Powerpoint-Style Video or "Creative" Video? You Decide

Funny isn't it? These guys that argue "doesn't matter if it's a crappy-looking amateurish video made with slides". Twaddle. How long do you think that's gonna last? Videos don't have to be boring. And they don't have to have slick production values either. They just need a Good Idea - a concept. And yes - the copy - the "script" has to be tight too.

You can shoot the things on a $1000 (or less) HD video camera. Edit on iMovie on Mac or Moviemaker on PC. Just make sure the sound is good - invest in a decent microphone. Doesn't matter so much about the visual but the sound has to be clear and with good levels. (I use a CanonHV20 HD camera with a directional mic on the hot shoe. And iMovie on Mac for editing) Have a look at what these guys are doing. Look what they did for a "house-moving company".

Rhett and Link had me with

"At the REEED House.... where black people and white people buy furniture..."

Here's a "making of" clip from the trailer spot:

Enjoyed the video and its making very much. Having lived in Texas for two years recently made the commercial quite poignant for me.

    Or both.

But, it depends on the niche Mal.

If someone does NOT want to put their mug on camera then PP style vids is a good way to do it IMO.

But, what many people are not keeping in mind that video TOGETHER with long copy out convert a straight up video salesletter (according to some).

I'd say Power Point videos have their place. It's a good way to present information. It's been used for years, for both teaching and selling.

I've seen Frank Kern use Power Point... Even though he's got the resources to shoot some very high quality vids. Same goes for other guys.

I think they've all got their place, at least for now.

In fact, I'm working on a Power Point video right now explaining all of this

I love that commercial by the way. It was designed to go viral, and they pulled it off brilliantly.

That's a very rare hybrid of a video that can go viral AND sell, not easy to pull off.
