Is copywriting the hidden IM asset?

Is copy writing the hidden asset/skill in internet marketing, in the fact that many newbie marketers are not aware of it, or that such a skill exists?

- the hidden asset but one that is most needed that is.

It is something which you learn as your experience in internet marketing increases.

I think a lot of internet marketers arent making nearly as much as they could be as they are using weak copy in their pages, titles and description.

in other words traffic generation, video marketing, seo are common factors of internet marketing

Do you know I think you're right on the button.

Copywriting was something that I shied away from because I didn't think I could do it. It was a mistake!

I learned by trial and error how to market etc but none of taht is any good if you can't come up with great compelling copy!

So my advice to anyone is if you can't afford copywriting fees get a good course on it at least and start to learn it's an evergreen skill to add to your arsenal too.

I think writing persuasively is a skill that is needed in any form of business.

And I see your point that it is a kind of skill that is improved through experience. As with any other skill, practice makes perfect.

LOL - and reading what you just wrote doesn't hurt either.

What I mean't to say is:
When did the fact that excellent writing skills of any sort are some of the most valuable on the Net become hidden?

I think good writing skills are needed to properly express your passion but not necessary. I think this is the reason most people are better salespersons IN PERSON. We tend to add much more into the conversation when right in front of a prospect...including a feedback system we do not have with writing/reading sales process.

I have no agenda but to help those in the same situation. This I feel will pay the bills.

ehhh....I actually think it's deeper than copywriting skills...I'm HORRID technically at copywriting...it's gross when I look at it..

But I average 10%+ conversion...that's pretty good. 1000 customers at $495 = $49,500 for a product that took me two months to put together and campaign....

I think marketing is more fundamental than copywriting.

For instance...I sell 100 products purposely then close down my site and then customers get pissed because I'm good at presenting and providing value while being myself and having fun WHILE TEACHING ONLINE BUSINESS...if my business rode on copy skills I'd be broke...

Customer Psychology is the anchor of business...and it's more underrated than copy....newbies think they understand customers...but they have NO CLUE as to what goes into developing a strong customer base.

Customer Psychology is by far the most hidden aspect in IMing because EVERYONE thinks they get it....that's the trick ; )

That has nothing to do with copy yet I make a bunch of money in the "viscous"(lol) market of IMing.

    But with that said...

I'm definitely going to be hiring copywriters to polish up my copy

I spend 10 hours max...anymore and my copy gets gross...but with that said...I suck at power words...I've just got flow and psychology behind my back...

Plus...sucking at copy makes you unique!...kinda.

I believe it's an overall part of aspect of marketing...

Not "the end all be all" of marketing

(I can have the best sales letter in the world and no traffic)

    Persuasion in general though...

    Rocks in every way!

Some of the best marketers all have great copywriting skills or sales backrounds.

    Jay Abraham for instance.

    Plus it's fun to learn

Copywriting IS one of, if not the most important online marketing skill you can learn. Why it's so important, though, is that in order to write effective copy, you have to study human psychology and get inside the target market's head.

You have to be able to take your ego completely out of the equation and play up all the emotional triggers that get people salivating at the thought of the product or service you're selling them.

It's fascinating, really, how much you have to truly get to know people and their basic fears, desires, etc. You have to get to know what moves them, and once you do, you have the unique ability to see people in a new light..I don't think it's anything that you can un-learn once you know how to do it. Rusty, yes. Completely inept? no.
