Local Insurance Agent Saved my Puppy/Baby

Can I pull off an insurance advertorial with this headline? Photo caption with woman holding her dog? Lead in will be how she used the money we saved her to pay for the expensive operation/procedure for her "baby" and without my help her greedy old agent would have simply lined his pockets with her money while her dog got sicker and sicker....without my help she never would have been able to come up with the cash...being recently laid off and all

    Hi Dan,

Probably not, but assuming it's true you could garner publicity and create press releases. It would require imagination to hit it out of the park.

I would lean heavily on the dog angle. Here's in California, seems like everybody has one of them toy dogs. Pull, yank, tug on their heart strings.

Of course. But the "baby" needs to be a Great Dane. A harlequin Great Dane.

      Hey Dan,

I really like this direction. And you have a good "sixth sense" for wanting to leverage this woman's story in an ad.

It could be pulled off. But it would have to be one very smooth transition from the dog story to talking about your company.

Gary Halbert talked about writing like you're a reporter who's extremely excited about a product / service. This is just off the top of my head,
but I think you could transition from the story to your services like this...

"...I'm just thankful my pup is still alive!"

"I was so happy to hear about (dog woman)'s story," Dan Williams,
owner of blah blah insurance co. replied, "And I don't understand
how other companies get away with the prices they charge!

"You see, all it takes is {this and this} to get lower prices. If
every company applied that, maybe we'd start hearing more stories
      like {dog woman}'s!"

Dan then went on to talk about yet another crazy story! {brief story
that really acts as a testimonial}. And he's got more where that
      came from.

If you'd like to get in touch with Dan, and see if he can help you
save money on your car insurance, you can reach him at..."

    Suggested headline:

We don't set out to save dogs, but sometimes that's what we do

Explain that the agent's goal is to help people get the insurance coverage they need at the best price, so that clients have more money for whatever in life is important to them.

This could be a series, with "we don't set out to..." showcasing what various photogenic, appealing, heartwarming, fascinating clients did with the money they saved.

I think it's a great story to leverage, and have to agree with Chris about the "we don't set out to" angle. You could reach a ton of different audiences if you created those ads, and it would be relatively simple to do, too. I think you have your answer.
