I know I need a copy writer

I have a client site that needs some help in the copy writing area.

This is a credit card merchant services company that I have brought from the very depths of hell on Google in to the top 1-4 pages for 8 keywords - in the past 3 months

Out of 8 keywords, I am need to increase their SER for 3 of them.

I need some site changes to get it further along its path. I believe I need change in the copy.

I am looking for copy to place on the site that will attract Google SERs but also appeal to human users to improve the bounce rate.

Is this something you would be interested in?
If so what kind of $ are we talking about here?

Feel free to PM or contact me

I've written for that market but if you are looking for
SEO copy then I don't tamper in that area. I know
some copywriters who advertise their service as such
but it still beats me on how to write copy to persuade
a machine and a human being at the same time.

Perhaps you'd get some other takers here.

What you can do RayDal is write the copy like you normally would, then have an SEO guy optimize it, then go over it again with the SEO guy.

It will probably drop the conversion rate but it will still pull fine as long as you supervise it.

Thanks, but I don't think I could endure the punishment of seeing my copy
mutilated to suit the search engines. I don't mind a SEOptimized site that
'redirect' traffic to my copy. I guess it's just a personal choice.

Writing SEO copy is a really useful skill. I get most of my clients on the first two or three three pages of Google and others. Got a lawyer on the first page of a hard-to-rank-on page. As you know, there are as many lawyers as people who call themselves copywriters and getting them on the first page is no easy task. But SEO copywriting is not SEO. It's a special way to integrate just the right keywords into the copy. Costs more but it's well worth it.

Why dont you do your own copywriting, its not hard at all. Its cost effective (free) and if you put your head to good use it will be quality.

Well I can write some ok copy but I am really a programmer. SEO that I can handle.

If I thought I could do it, and do it efficiently then I would.

Alexa, you read my mind...and my schedule

Actually, Raydal's 100% correct on this one.

Copy is to sell, not get the traffic. Separate the two and you'll get better results.

If you are looking for SEO directed traffic, create a blog and create excellent content (maybe hire a content writter for this) then have that blog redirect traffic to your sales page.

This would be easier than trying to make a sales page SEO friendly. The time it would take me (and it would still suck) anyone could pump out 30 posts in no time that are SEO specific.

I have several blogs and multiple articles. In this Niche getting to 1st page Google is very tough!.
Update on my traffic is I have the site now on 1st page Google for 3 of the eight keywords.
Unfortunately the two I really want are the ones that I think on site work would make the difference. Thus my call for help.

Kevin, I think you need an article writer, not a copywriter. Copywriters write advertisements that try to direct people to a particular action, such as a purchase. Article writers try to structure content so that search engines pick up keywords and get people to the site in the first place. Different specialties really.

Thanks Chris for you thoughts. I have article writers and I have been employing that strategy effectively. But I still need to improve the bounce rate of the page.

That is where some good copy writing will help. But have to do it in a way to that will not upset my rankings.

I hear some folks saying this can not be done. I think they are wrong. There are some key elements in good SEO copy. I believe we can get around these and still write some good "ACTION" copy as well.

      Time will tell

  • Actually, Mr. Enthusiastic, article/content writers create informative content for human consumption. This myth that content is only for the search engines is seriously going to be the death of our profession... He's looking for an SEO writer. Or someone from eLance who claims to be both...

But enough symantics, my recommendation here would be to hire an SEO firm, not a writer. Sure a writer could get you some good quality content for humans to read, a copywriter could get you sales, and an SEO writer could probably increase your rankings - but if rankings are all you're after, and you already have your content, an SEO firm will do you best.

    Good luck!

Thanks Cheryl, <smile> I am an SEO firm. I am getting the rankings in a very very difficult market. But I need a little more. In my original post I state I need to improve the bounce rate.

That is where the copy writing come in to play, I hope I am not using SEO/SER words that are confusing the copywriters. <very innocent smile>

I want to thank all for posting on this thread.

The site could use some better copy over all. I think with the right talent I will be able to do both, get good pages that will convert traffic and aid in the generation of that traffic.

I will return to this post and let you know.

Yes I have gotten some PR's on this. I have quotes from $95 up over $1000.
I did not even respond to the $95 but I am working with the $800 and up guys.

Maybe be I am not clear,... but just how much do you think it would cost to get a company from no where into the 1st pages of Google for an ultra competitive industry like credit card processing. Most of these companies are already spending 10-20K a month in PPC.

I am looking for "real" talent and I am willing to pay someone a fair rate to help me meet my objectives.

I am confident that with the offers I have received that I WILL meet my objectives., I always do!

        Again thanks to all

Your not going to see real talent at $800

What you actually need if your just looking to improve the bounce rate is actually a very good content writer not a copywriter. Copy sells stuff, thats why it costs so much. What you need is a article writer who writes content thats so good people keep reading and reading and reading.

I would suggest checking for professional writers who do articles for major magazine publications. Theres lots of them, use google mr.seo. If your not hiring a copywriter to get some kind of response (opt-in email, a sale, etc) then dont hire a copywriter. Hire a regular, but very, very good writer.

        Hi bydomino,

Would mind doing everyone a small favor, and restating your goal(s) for your Client's webpage.

I think folks here are getting mixed signals based several of your posts, and it would help greatly if you could clarify specifically what the objective is.

That way we can give our best reasoned advice. And see whether one of us is fit for you.

        Thanks.

    Hi Kevin,

I know you feel like you're up against a brickwall, but all you need is a creative writer who's geared to delivering the goods without compromising on style.

I also acknowledge all my fellow writers' comments here that clearly illustrate the dichotomy of your particular problem.

However, it's not something that cannot be addresed. Why don't you send me a slightly more detailed brief on your exact requirements, and I'd be happy to work out something tailormade for you.

Am I claiming to offer you nirvana? No. But, we do have a panel of experts in various domains on board and they specialize in solving problems like yours (while ensuring that the content is engaging enough to hold the attention of an average joe too).

    Cheers!

Everyone is making some really good points. You aren't going to get what you need for $800 and you need more than just a copy change if you want the client's site to actually improve. Danniboy makes a good point, you need to add copy around the client's product, not just change what you have. A blog is a great wayt to do that. But before you do anything, remember that you should always write for your users, not the search engines. The search engines aren't going to buy anything from you.
