Best Way To Protect Your Content?

Hello fellow warriors,

I'd like to hear from you on your thoughts about protecting your content from scrapers. Is it possible to really do this? Is Copyscape really going to protect your work from being stolen?

I've tried to research this query prior to posting this because I don't think it would be right for me to post a query when the answer was here on the forum all along. If I missed it in my search, any redirect would be appreciated. I understand my question is a loaded one because of which platform is used for the content. For example, if I were to use WordPress, which is open-source, it is supposedly easier to hack, at least that is my understanding.

I am totally new here. No website. Nothing. Just learning.

Thank you so much and one day I will be of some help here. That is one of my goals.

Rosie

You can use a javascript and you they wont be able to highlight the text and copy, also you can disable the right click of the mouse as well, but for bots and automated software im not sure.

People can download page and grab content.

No way to solve this puzzle UNLESS you want to deliver 10's of DMCA's every week...

People make good money selling to the rich. But the rich got rich selling to the masses.

And that costs $99 a pop, too! Good grief.

Until your answers to my OP, I never had heard of DMCA. I really did not believe there was a fool-proof way of keeping people from stealing. It's just like trying to prevent somebody from breaking into your home...if they want to bad enough, they'll figure a way around the system.

        Take care,

        Rosie

Good analogy, Rosie. The point of a lock is not to guarantee NOBODY can get in. It's to make it probably that MOST people will find it too much trouble to get in.

Your real power in this business is not in keeping other people from using your words. It's in having an endless flow of fresh new words that inspire people to order. Trailblazers don't really have to worry if the followers photograph their old route... the leaders are off to climb a new mountain before anyone else.

I have always found that keeping a copy of all the material I write is very helpful. Many times that is enough. But, now a days that is not enough.

Oh, okay. Do you mean that by doing so, you can prove you are the original author? Sorry, just trying to clarify.

Thank you so much for your help.

In my experience, the single biggest point of failure
for folks wanting to move forward with their plans
is an often wholly irrational fear of being ripped off.

The benefits of moving forward are often quickly
cast aside in favor of a paralyzing fear of loss.

We're a pretty messed up species, I'll tell ya.

      Hi Brian!

I am so inspired and encouraged by your post and all the others. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. It is true that one can be frozen in fear and never even take the first step to success. What a joy it is as well as an honor to chat with folks in this forum. I've been lurking for six weeks just reading and reading and trying to learn. I'm glad I finally jumped in and started to mingle and ask questions. IMO, fear can just go jump in the lake!!!!! No lookin' back.....
