Hey, Rick Duris...
Those of you who know me also know I'm prone to make off-the-wall, spur of the moment decisions, and this morning (around 2AM my time, lol) was no exception.
Out of the blue (so "me," yes?), I decided to ask Rick Duris to add me to his Skype contacts so I could get some feedback on a guide I wrote recently.
Now, I don't know Rick and he doesn't know me, but he added me and graciously agreed to look at my guide (ahem...a total stranger to him, and he agreed. Nice!)
Rick was considerate but honest in his comments. Most of the things he told me about my stuff I already knew because I'd heard them before. But it's okay ... see, that's how I know he was honest.
After our chat, he knows a lot more about me than when we started out. Is that a good thing? Maybe ... I don't know.
What I do know is that Rick did more than look at my guide (and a couple other things I've created) and offer feedback (which was spectactular and on the money, BTW).
He reminded me I have accomplished things I can be proud of. He acknowledged something I have a hard time believing about myself...that I'm talented, in more areas than one.
In our brief chat (which he graciously conducted over Skype because I'm a phone-phob) he managed to boost my confidence and self-esteem which had been lagging over the past few months.
That's a good thing. A really good thing.
The feedback? It was nice. Really nice.
But the emotional effect of our conversation -- that was priceless.
So here's a big shout out and Thank You to Rick Duris, for unconditionally giving something I can never repay him for.
Rick, if you ever need anything, you know where to find me...
