Patrick Swayze's Guide To Copywriting Business Etiquette

Straight from the late Patrick Swayne's best movie IMHO, Road House.

The rated R advice starts at 2 minute mark.

Warning: There's some coarse language in this video clip, so if foul words bother you, then don't watch it.

The advice works for any type of business but I think it works great for copywriters in both public conversation and when it's time to put your game face on to write some killer salescopy.

Enjoy,

Mike

    • Mike, nice find...

I had a St.Elmo's Fire thread in the works, but since you stole my 80's thunder... everyone misses out.

  • "Hiring the best in the business" is a pretty good line, but after that I fail to see any similarities.

If I hired a copywriter, and he showed customers the way out (even with a smile), I'd be pretty friggin' mad.

I'll look at the video again and try to find out what you're talking about.

    Edit:

Ok, I'd say "Be nice", "have the right temperament", and "it's not personal, it's just a job" are pretty good advise that nobody in their right mind would ignore.

You win this one. But I'll get you next time, and your little dog too!

(I'm just play'n with ya. You know that, right?)

  • I still remember my girlfriend sobbing and blubbering like a lost puppy after coming out of "Ghost" in 1990. She held it through all of the last quarter of the film, then lost it when we got back into the car after the movie. Man, those were the days.

    • I'd have to say that "Ghost" and "Dirty Dancing" are favorites of mine. RIP, Patrick, will miss you.
  • "Pain Don't Hurt", it's my personal opinion that you're not really a man until you've watched Roadhouse.
