I remember going through the paper one day...

The ad was suposed to have a huge headline that said:

    FINAL SALE!

But the printing and color department must have not checked the ad after printing because the ink bled...

making the F and I look like just one letter.

    The Letter:

    A

    Now read that headline again.

PS- Always remember to proofread AFTER something is printed before mailing it out.

How do you know that's a mistake?

    Hello,

Yes I agree that its very important to proof read all our work for any slight error might lead to a misunderstanding from the standing point of the public. This might lead to loosing valuable clients.

There is nothing that gets me more than buying a product and finding typos, grammar errors, or spelling errors. Proofreading is a very good thing. Otherwise you look unprofessional.

Not just typos, but also wrong phrasing that can result in a double entendre. The news clippings made popular by Jay Leno are classic!

Hey shift happens. I'm so final (think of the f and i bleeding together in that last word) that I re-read my own stuff over and over again and make all kinds of little tweaks. The writing usually gets much better, but I find I also get blinder and blinder to one or two of the blunders or typos that I've made. They just creep into my writing and stay unless I have an independent proofreader take a look. Even then, sometimes a mistake finds it's way through -- shift happens.

Inasmuch as proofreading is important, there are times when even the best Proofreaders still make horrible blunders. I bet you, somebody must have proofread the above '****'. Maybe with a troubled mind. Just hopes he/she hasn't lost job yet.

Great example of the need for proofreading. I have a section of my site dedicated to proofreading mistakes; I never tire of them!

My favorite is the one about the bank teller who foiled a robbery because of the robber's spelling mistakes.
