'Great' is a subjective term, but here are some names that have made millions for their clients:

Donna Baier Stein, Tina Lorenz, Carline Angelade Cole, Susanna Hutchinson, Marcia Yudkin, Kim Krause Schwalm, Emily Soell, Joan Throckmorton, James Chartrand.

That's off the top of my head.

Case History BTW: James Chartrand (Men with Pens) is a woman. She took on a male nom de plume because of the bias in the copywriting and direct response industry.

Briefly, James began copywriting under her own name. She got tired of being condescended to and always having to 'justify' her competence and her fees. As an experiment, she began marketing herself as "James Chartrand" and noticed an immediate difference in the way she was perceived by prospects and clients. So, she kept "James Chartrand" and her career flourished.

James only 'came out' because someone who knew her real name threatened to go public with the information. Even so, she has not revealed her 'real' name, and continues to write as James Chartrand.

Although there are a number of excellent female direct response copywriters, many of them simply choose to avoid the testosterone hoopla. It gets old, and it's not worth the energy.

Carline Anglade-Cole's copy is smoking hot.

Just look at her million-dollar controls. I wish
I had a CV like that (working towards that).

The main reason I posed this question is because everybody always say something like "you should read that book by John Carlton" or "This book by Dan Kennedy" or "study all the copy written by Halbert". Maybe all the women are just keeping a low profile, apart from that one that likes to scream a lot on daytime tv.

She used a male pen name when first starting out and even dressed like a man to get her first job writing copy.

If you are thinking of writing to the female market, then Lorrie Morgan-Ferrero is one of the better female copywriters who understands them.

Even though she has been trained by Gary Halbert, John Carlton and Dan Kennedy, she knows writing to women is a little different, as they respond differently.

Good thing to know because they control most of the spending!

She has training on how you go about it too.

Completely different. It's self-promotion and best at teaching copywriting vs. best writing skills.

You're talking about the people who have done the best job promoting (marketing) their books and brand. Halbert's stuff is solid but I think he gets mentioned as much as he does because he has so many free to read newsletters on his website.

There are alot of great copywriters (male and female) who don't have a 'learn copywriting' book or course and have no desire to create one.

Really, if your goal is to learn copywriting, the gender of your teacher is irrelevant.

A female freelancer had a 4-year control at the company I work for... historically, this is probably our best-selling product too, so it's likely a lot of folk (men) would have tried to beat that letter and failed.

Also, the copy director at Casey Research is a lady.

In the financial niche it's about 75% male buyers, so being a successful copywriter in it - without having a wiener - is pretty bad ass!
