Free Report Title: Which one is best please

I have a Free Report/bait piece going out to Yellow Pages advertisers.

It's purpose is to help them with it.

Should the title be...

1 7 Deadliest Threats To Your Yellow Page Advertising

2 7 Deadliest Threats To Your Advertising

3 7 Deadliest Threats To Your Business

Would appreciate your pick and reason/reasons.

Thank you in advance,
Ewen

    I go for:

7 Deadliest Threats To Your Yellow Page Advertising

But still, it's not as effective.

        Hey

I meant that it was the best off the lot, but not the best that could be used.

    OR ...

"Why Yellow Pages Is Costing You {Something}"

"How Yellow Pages Is Killing Your Business"

Just some ideas. If I knew a little bit more, I could come up with a really good one

It's going to an offline list of Yellow Page advertisers.

      Thanks,

I would be very leery of focusing on Yellow Page advertising.

    1. Yellow Pages almost guarantees the ad you write as a direct response copywriter will be rejected. YP does not like it when one company dominates with superior advertising, strategy or copy.

    Why?

Because the other companies advertising will not get leads for their ad spend. And Yellow Pages will lose their revenue as a result.

That's why the ad copy you see rampant in the Yellow Pages is not very good. (The other reason is their account managers offer to write the ads. Hey, they are the experts and know what works, right? )

    2. With #1 on the table, Yellow Pages is not profitable for companies anymore, because the Internet lead generation has been encroaching on their territory. You can see this happening before your eyes with Google Places (it used to be called Google Maps), Google and Bing. Plus dozens of start-ups competing like local.com. Estimates are unless Yellow Pages publishers shift their business model, they be out of business in 5 years.

    3. Step into the mind of a business owner for a second. Here they spent all this money on YP advertising and you come along and offer to redo their ad. A new directory comes out every six months, So it could as long 6 months before they see any improvement.

So what are the chances of you being compensated anytime soon on a medium that isn't delivering for them anyway?

    - Rick Duris

PS: If I had my choice, I'd focus on the word "marketing," although "advertising" is a close second. The word "business" is just too general. You could be a business management consultant, trainer or some other profession.

      Ewen,

Yellow Pages advertising is, for many companies, an irrational spend. They want to "get their name out there" and they don't want to "be left out".

So if you show them that their ad can also get really good results, your offer will be appealing.

Regarding your subject title, "Deadliest Threats" is too over the top and will be seen as hype. Something simple like "The 7 Biggest Mistakes Yellow Pages Advertisers Make" or "7 Ways To Make Your Yellow Pages Advertising Get More Customers" should do just fine.

Yellow Pages does NOT reject direct response looking ads. Direct response type ads in Yellow Pages have a very slim chance of doing well (based on a study of over 80,000 YP display ads).

Telmetrics released call tracking data showing that print Yellow Pages generates online leads. How can that be? I thought people only used print or online.

The company looked at leads driven by Yellow Page print ads. 44% of the leads were URL visits while 56% were calls - so half of the people that used the print Yellow Pages to find a source then went online. In other words, they started their search with print, not with the supposed solution to all mankind's troubles -- the Internet.

      YP directories come out yearly.
