When do I come in with the offer to buy?

I'm putting out a Special Report to Yellow Page advertisers.

The service I'm offering is to critique all their advertising.

The price point is to be in the hundreds, but less than $500.

Would like to know your thoughts on whether to put an order form at the end of the Special Report..

OR...

have them phone in to have their questions answered and get their order at that point..

or...

go about it in a different way?

Reasons to your answers would be appreciated.

Thank you in advance,
Ewen

I'm not too familiar with this but thought I'd contribute from a customer's point of view.

I'd say have your order button available at every point of contact. This is so that you can get them even when it's a spur of the moment thing. The time taken from reading your report to making the actual call is enough to have a lot of mini "conversations" in an individual's mind. After they make the order, you at least have a window to come in and assure them why they won't regret their decision.

If you're afraid of appearing too pushy, then perhaps you can entice them with a free consultation offer which also has an "order" button, but it leads to your inbox instead of paypal account.

    Just a couple of suggestions.

Before you spend anytime writing a report, get on the phone and call them Have a conversation about growing their business.

Yours is a good strategy, but only if you make a REAL connection. And business owners immediately see the value of you on their team.

      Thanks Rick.

The first step I am planning is sending out an email which gives them compelling reasons to get the Report, which is not a disguised sales letter.

The Report only goes out to the ones who have requested it..

Going through this process, would it not be as efficient and effective as phoning them first?

      Interested in your thoughts.

      All the best,
      Ewen

I'm curious how you intend to do this without spamming them. Do you already have Yellow Page advertisers who have opted in to your list?

          Hi Marcia,

It is the same method endorsed by respected Warrior Forum members David Cavanagh,
          Mark Andrews and Happy Warrior.

Not one of their readers that I have seen suggest this is spam.

A small test that I have done has resulted in only very positive responses in their return emails.

This is all I can judge this method by.

I do respect your opinion and work Marcia as I have gone against a tide of opinion on one thread here to suggest people go and read what you have written on a certain subject.

          All the best,
          Ewen

What's the strategy here... you're going through the yellow pages, pulling email addresses and then sending your report?

If so, then according to New Zealand's "Unsolicited Electronic Messages Act 2007" where spam is defined as "unsolicited commercial electronic messages" then you are spamming (IF that's your strategy).

And if I'm interpreting this correctly...

The New Zealand Department of Internal Affairs : Services : Anti-Spam

...but you should probably read the whole thing, just in case.

When it comes to something that could get you into trouble with the law you need to do your own due diligence, "some guy on the WF said it's cool" probably isn't enough.

      Thanks Colm.

Have read it and satisfied I won't be breaching the law.

    Ewen,

In the free report, I would offer a free 15 minute phone consultation to "help them increase their sales by 20% in 30 days" (or something similar). That encourages them to call you.

On the call, you'll have the opportunity to 1) demonstrate your expertise, and 2) pitch your services.

    Alex

P.S. - Marcia and Colm gave you good advice. Make absolutely sure your initial contact with them complies with the law.
