Please critique my free report

UPDATE: I just did a big edit and changed almost everything I originally had after the list of 5 tricks. Also, just to clarify this is the report they would get for opting in not the actual opt-in page.

I have a physical product which is a chewable tablet appetite suppressant. I realized I was dropping the ball big time by not building a list and just sending people to my web-site. Not that I am focusing on getting an opt-in I made a free report and would love to get some feedback before I post it on my site.

Note: When I pasted it in here, my bolding and use of red font did not carry over.

Here are my concerns:

1.) Is it too long to expect a normal consumer to read?

2.) Is my sales pitch at the end weak? I want to lead them to my site afterwards but also have a four e-mail follow up series that goes out after this report.

3.) Am I missing any key points that as someone who's never heard of the product you would expect to have addressed?

Thanks in advance!

"The 5 Things the Diet Industry Does Not Want You to Know!"

We’ve all seen the advertisements. “Lose 20 pounds in 20 days!” or “Lose Weight without Diet or Exercise!” Turn on the TV or flip through a magazine and you will be bombarded with these outrageous claims.

They think we are stupid; the guy with chiseled abs and the woman with no body fat, as if the diet pill did that, give me a break!

The diet industry rakes in over 40 billion dollars a year, yet every year in the United States, a stunning number of people are becoming overweight and obese.

In 2010 more than 72 MILLION adult Americans are obese, a staggering 26.7 percent!

That figure does not account for the millions more who are over their ideal weight.

So, think about it…..

If there was a single supplement, drink or pill that instantly melted fat away don’t you think we would all know about it?

Do you think anyone could or would want to hide a secret that big?

Of course not!!! In fact, it’s likely that if anything like that did exist it would be provided free of charge by your health insurance or the government.

That’s because obesity related medical problems cost $147 Billion dollars a year and continue to skyrocket.

The fact is your body is not meant to lose large amounts of weight rapidly. Actually we all have a starvation mechanism left over from our hunter and gatherer days that prevent rapid loss of body weight to protect us!

More on that soon; first, here are the 5 secrets about the diet industry that we promised to reveal to you.

WARNING: Make sure you read the end of the report to see how you can fight back to achieve real weight loss success!!

1. Metabolism Boosting or Calorie Burning Pills Are a Fraud.

Many diet pills contain ingredients that claim to increase your metabolism to help you burn calories faster. A lot of times these pills will tout the latest herbal discovery from the depth of the Amazon rain forest or some other out of the way locale. Unfortunately, there is no supplement out there that can increase your body’s fat burning capability.

In fact, some of these supplements may be dangerous to your health. Look at the recent problems with Ephedra. The FDA had to ban the sale of any pill that contains this distant relative of methamphetamine. Ephedra has been responsible for high blood pressure, irregular heartbeat, insomnia, seizures, tremors, heart attacks, strokes and even deaths.

Many of these pills do nothing but speed up your heart rate, which can lead to dangerous health conditions. You may lose a few pounds because of the rapid heart rate but the weight loss is never significant enough to make it worth the risk to your health.

2. Fat Blocking Pills Can Be Harmful

You have seen the ads for the pills that claim to block the fat you eat to help you shed those unwanted pounds. But what they don’t tell you is these pills interrupt your normal digestive process and cause severe gastrointestinal problems such as diarrhea, gas and bloating. In fact, these pills can cause you to lose control of your bowels. Talk about embarrassing!

One other thing they won’t tell you is your body actually needs to absorb the fat that you take in. Within this fat lie very important vitamins and minerals that your body needs to function properly.

3. Weight Loss Teas Don’t Work

You have seen the pills that contain things like green tea, black tea, red tea or oolong tea. Or maybe you have thought about trying the actual teas themselves. There are some benefits to drinking green tea because of the anti-oxidant properties. However, these teas are not the miracle weight loss ingredient you are looking for.

Many of these teas and pills contain potent diuretics. You may lose four or five pounds but this is water weight loss, not fat loss. You may also become dehydrated from the loss of water. Dehydration can lead to other health problems. Quality herbal teas can be very beneficial for your health but they are not beneficial for weight loss.

4. Diet Patches Are Not Effective.

Even though diet patches are not a pill they are made by the same companies that make diet pills. These patches will contain small amounts of the same ineffective ingredients that are found in most weight loss pills.

You can’t just apply a medication or nutrient to a patch and expect it to be readily absorbed by the body. The medication must possess a specific molecular weight for it to be absorbed through the skin. In cases where the medication is not of the right molecular weight it has to be genetically altered by researchers in a lab to make it an effective transdermal medication. That is why so few medications come in a patch. So think about it, why would a diet patch be effective?

5. Body Wraps Are Useless.

This theory has been around for decades. These wraps claim to lock in body heat to melt away the excess fat. You can choose from a variety of ingredients to slather all over your body prior to wrapping. These ingredients may be some of the same ingredients found in diet pills. For example, a lot of body wraps will come with solutions that contain green tea and caffeine. If these ingredients don’t work in a diet pill why would they work with a body wrap?

The only thing a body wrap will do for you is to produce water weight loss from excessive sweating. This water weight will be easily re-gained.

We all wish there was a magic bullet. There just isn’t.

Weight loss really boils down to this one inescapable truth:

The calories you take in vs. the calories your body burns.

And for most of us that’s the problem. We need control over our appetite, cravings and portions in order to take in fewer calories.

We can control our body’s cravings and hunger. This is the BIG news.
In fact we are going to show you:
How to Turn Off Your Appetite and Stop Cravings Cold In 3 to 5 Minutes and End Being a Slave to Things You Don’t Want To Eat!

That is why we have developed Instant Appetite Control, the first ever supplement to kill cravings in 5 minutes flat.

 Instant Appetite Control is a chocolate flavored tablet that dissolves under your tongue and is absorbed through the mucus membrane.
 The area underneath your tongue contains hundreds of tiny blood vessels that are covered with a very thin membrane of skin.
 These blood vessels rapidly transport any ingredient throughout your system.
 In fact, the medical community has been using this area for years to administer medication as important as heart attack preventatives.

By delivering its synergistic blend of ingredients in this way, Instant Appetite Control is able to thwart cravings and give your body a feeling of satisfaction all in 3 to 5 minutes.

Why it works:

Imagine you’re on the go and you see a donut or slice of pizza calling out to you. Instead of grabbing it you pop in an Instant Appetite Control and within a few minutes the argument over whether or not to indulge disappears.

You’re on your way to dinner at a relative’s house and you know there are going to be mounds of food. You take an Instant Appetite Control tablet before you show up and are able to eat a smaller portion size and still feel satisfied.

You’re out running errands and you’re near your favorite place to grab a snack. Instead, you take an Instant Appetite Control tablet so you can feel comfortable and focused until your next planned meal.

Not only will you reduce your calorie intake, you will strengthen your will power and guess what? The more you make the right decisions the more confident you’ll become and the better you will feel.

When you already feel full, you won’t be eating from an emotional place and can make the best choices for your health.

If you are looking for the magic bullet for weight loss, you are out of luck.

If you are looking to control your hunger and cravings so that you can reduce your calorie intake and not be in a constant struggle with food you are in luck.

The scientists at Advanced Pharmaceutical Laboratory in Florida discovered that a synergistic formulation of natural ingredients has the ability to:

 help regulate food cravings which are determined by insulin levels in the body.
 help stabilize sugar levels in the body.
 help regulate metabolism so as not to engage the bodies starvation mechanism, and work to eliminate the frantic feeling that can occur with hunger.

We call it Instant Appetite Control because it can
Turn Off Your Appetite and Stop Cravings Cold in 3 to 5 Minutes

Just imagine what having “Will Power” in your pocket can do for you. Think of the effortless calorie reduction and the newfound ability to make healthy food choices.

Everyone knows they should be eating healthier but knowing and doing are two completely separate things. We become attached to food, it becomes part of our routine and the cravings can be overwhelming.

That’s what makes Instant Appetite Control so special, it allows you to break free from the foods you crave and make a real difference in your life!

Case Study that will include photos

Inthava from Madison, Wisconisn

When I first ordered Instant Appetite Control, I was a bit skeptical as I’ve been put through the ringer with diet products before. However, I had a cruise to get ready for and in the harsh Wisconsin winters it’s tough to get out to the gym and I was not “bikini” ready. When I’m around the house I have always struggled with snacking too much. I decided to give Instant Appetite Control a shot and track my results.

Without listing everything I ate on a daily basis, I averaged about 2,700 calories a day. I go to grad school and work so I often feel short on time when it comes to cooking or preparing food ahead of time. I almost always end up at Starbucks for breakfast (I need my caffeine!) getting a cinnamon dolce latte and a muffin. Lunch is a salad or a wrap and dinner too often turns into pizza or Chinese food with my roommates plus I like to sneak a couple cookies or a soda in there for good measure throughout the day. Not exactly an optimal diet to get ready for the Caribbean, lol!

Right after I ordered my bottle of Instant Appetite Control I decided to try and change my diet around without using the product and see if I could do without some of my treats. My rules were as follows: no muffin in the morning and no soda, pizza or cookies. Let’s just say it didn’t go well! It was 1:00 PM on the first day when I grabbed my first soda. As soon as I finished drinking it, I had that huge feeling of disappointment and regret that comes with letting yourself down. Even worse, it led me to eating terribly for the rest of the day! Not a good start.

Two days later I got my bottle of Instant Appetite Control. I took a tablet the next morning and had a small breakfast of yogurt and a peach. When I got to Starbucks I didn’t even think about my normal blueberry muffin! When lunch rolled around, I was craving a quiznos sandwich and some of their broccoli cheddar soup. I quickly grabbed my bottle of Instant Appetite Control from my purse and took another tablet. Within a few minutes my cravings were gone and I started to think that there might be something to this.

What I began to realize is that these foods that I thought I loved (but clearly didn’t love me or my hips back) really had a control over me. If I would skip a morning muffin or an afternoon soda before I would be thinking about them constantly and felt like I was missing out. After taking Instant Appetite Control, I was able to make healthy decisions and didn’t stare at my salad cursing it for not being a big slice of pizza or an order of lo-mein.

Within a week I was able to successfully drop my average calorie intake from 2700 calories of a lot of junk to 2000 calories of healthy, satisfying food. 700 calories over seven days a week is 4,900 calories saved. That’s about a pound and a half a week of pure fat loss! Even better, after a few more weeks I was averaging 1700 calories a day and losing several pounds a week.

When my cruise came around, I was in the best shape I had been in years and I have the bikini pictures to prove it! With the help of Instant Appetite Control I was able to drop 13 pounds in 4 weeks. I always carry a bottle of Instant Appetite Control around with me in my purse. Of course I still occasionally grab my blueberry muffin because, you have to from time to time, but when I do, I enjoy it because I know I have the power to make the right decisions the rest of the time.

    To answer your questions directly:

1.) Is it too long to expect a normal consumer to read?

No, it's not too long. You give some good information in this report. I do think that the report could be a lot better with some proofing and editing but overall, this is one of the better chunks of text samples I've seen here in a while.

2.) Is my sales pitch at the end weak? I want to lead them to my site afterwards but also have a four e-mail follow up series that goes out after this report.

I don't really see a sales pitch anywhere in this material. But that's not to say that it isn't compelling. You got my attention and kept it. I see quite a bit of interesting information and that's what keeps me reading, I would click through if you made it easy to do so.

3.) Am I missing any key points that as someone who's never heard of the product you would expect to have addressed?

I'd answer yes, you are missing many key points. This is your weakness. But I also think that you can easily get on track by thinking in these two terms: Features and Benefits.

As many writers do, you've almost exclusively addressed the features of your product without addressing benefits. Features are more technical. You can analyze and evaluate features. For example, you might say that your potion has a component that actually helps accelerate an individual's metabolism, thus burning up calories while that person rests or sleeps or daydreams.

And just so you know, contrary to what you've written in your report, Cheyenne pepper (and other 'hot' stuff) has been proven to burn calories while an individual is at rest, at least more calories than would be used without the presence of Cheyenne pepper. But that's not the point.

The point is that features are necessary to selling but they are so often boring as well. Benefits are what sell. Here's an example I often use to make the distinction.

You buy a new Mercedes. One of the features of this model is an exclusive diamond studded shift knob. That knob alone sets you back $12K because it's loaded with 18K gold inlay and studded with fine diamonds. The freakin' knob alone is insured for $25K.

The knob is a feature. The feeling you get from having such an exclusive piece of equipment is the benefit. That benefit is exclusivity, pride, pomp and circumstance, glory, bragging rights, etc.

That's what your report is missing. The feelings your readers will get from knowing that they're involved with the best and most exclusive diet program on the market. The benefits you might want to call attention to are the feelings someone gets from finally finding the program that makes sense, the program that actually works…

The feelings an individual gets from staying in the frustrating and confusing diet game long enough to finally find the true solution. The feeling that comes from almost giving up and finding the ultimate solution just minutes before throwing in the towel.

These are the things that your reader will embrace, the things they want to embrace and identify with. That's what they want. Give it to them. That's the stuff that sells ebooks, programs, courses, videos and all the rest.

Overall, you've done a nice job. Consider kicking it all into high gear with some smart adjustments. Good luck.

Thanks so much for all the great feedback. I edited the 2nd half of the report a lot and tried to emphasize the benefits. I also added in a long testimonial that will have photos. If you get a chance to look back over it I would love to hear what you think of the changes.

      Thanks,

    Oconnor,

You want to build a list and get people to opt-in by giving them a freebie/then priming your list with a 4 page auto-responder, then launching the product with the 5th email. That's what I understood. If that's right

#1. Create a squeeze page - what you currently posted is a KILL ME page - no one's going to read all the way through and give you their e-mail. Squeeze in less than 60 seconds - if you can't you have a bad squeeze page.

#2. You won't squeeze with that headline - it's stale bread.

#3. KISS while you squeeze - I am going to assume you know what that means.

Thanks for the response but a few things..

1.) This isn't the opt-in page, this is the free report they get for opting in that I guess sort of turns into a bit of pitch at the end.

2.) My prime keywords are diet pill (and tails that go with that) and appetite suppressant and if you do a search for either you don't see anything like my headline. All the ads are 10 best diet pills or lose 10 pounds in 10 days. I understand that type of headline would be old hat trying to sell an internet marketing course but I still think it could have legs for this market. Maybe i'm wrong though, anyone else have thoughts?

      Here's my opt-in page: http://instantappetitecontrol.com/optin.html

3.) I don't want to have a 4 e-mail series before I tell them about the product. This is not meant to be a one time product launch this is supposed to be a long on-going system for converting sales. I want them to know about the product and be able to order it right off the bat but if they don't, the auto responder series will go out to them until they do or until the lead is dead.

4.) I just updated the report and changed almost everything I had after the list of 5 tricks.

      Thanks for your feedback.

    Hey Oconnor,
As every replier commented about your too long copy before, try and make your copy a bit short then what it is right now.
Moreover you can enhance your copy by adding some involvement devices and you will be astonished to see the dramatic change in your conversion rates.
Involvement Device such as checkbox which will be followed by a sentence stating the problem of your audience/reader will be effective.
Remember the 3P's and try to push emotion buttons of your target audience to see satisfying effects.
    PROBLEM, PAIN, PREDICAMENT.

Hope this will be helpful to you,
    Warren.
