    Do the competitive research.

    1. Find a piece that is consistently promoting on PPC search for the markets/products you want to promote. Go for Google Adwords since the marketers have to justify their existence everyday.

    2. Study. Analyze. Dissect. Create a spreadsheet of what you discover.

    3. Then knowing what've learned, differentiate yourself. Create the hook, premise or USP or UVP that makes your product or offer superior.

    4. Repeat.

First of all - it's "several pieces of health-related copy". Copy in this instance is both a plural and a singular - like "sheep".

Second of all writing copy is the same process in pretty much any market - although obviously prior experience makes the job easier.

My pearl of wisdom would be to study the laws on what you can and can't do when promoting medicine, as you're moving into the FDA's territory (or the equivalent UK agency, in all likelihood).

And those guys play for keeps.

Just make sure you've got a reasonably sound legal understanding of the market and its related rules.

  • This is a market I have actually written for and I can tell you these people are very bottom line and skeptical.

The health market is a great market to get into but you have to remember, they have been ripped off (just like a lot of internet marketers) and find it hard to trust anyone.

The best thing you can do in your copy is open it by educating them BEFORE you sell to them.

Tell them why they need your product before they even know you have one for sale.

Let them get to like you, and know you, and even better, trust that you know what the heck you are talking about..then after you have warmed up to them... hit them with your pitch.

Depends on where in the "health related" market you fit...

Are you talking about fitness? Alternative medicine? Wellness? Remedies for ailments??? Something else??

Each one will have different reasons for buying...

Are you willing to give any more info?? If so, I'd be glad to share what I know - if anything - about that niche...

And if not, then do your research in forums, Q&A sites, social media, looking at competitors....

Try to ID their big problem and instantly deliver one power tip that produces instant results - that'll establish credibility... Without distracting them from making a purchase...

If you;ve got proof, that'll have a big impact on conversions in any market...

And - heck yeah - be sure you don't get sideways with the FDA!!!

Share some more info and you'll probably get better advice ...

    good luck!

Check out Clayton Makepiece. He does a lot in the health niche.

Main thing to remember writing for health... people don't buy prevention they buy cures.

      Colin just jogged my memory.

Carline Anglade-Cole is THE copywriter who is
doing big things in copywriting for direct mailers in
      the alternative health sector.

Yes I am bias to her because she bought me dinner...OK!

Seriously though, you will find examples of her winning pieces
      on her website.

      Structure and layout are there.

      All the best,
      Ewen
