Hi everyone,

Although I don't consider myself to be a BAD writer; I seem to be failing miserably at pre-selling any affiliate offers..

I have managed to get a small but decent amount of traffic to my site but have yet to convert anything

What am I missing in the pre sale technique?
Any guides you recommend?

Thanks for any feedback, I really appreciate it!

  • Just browsing here, but I wish that I could write copy.

You mention - affiliate offers.. and then later - I have managed to get a small but decent amount of traffic to my site.

Are you using one website to promote a multitude of offers? If so, then you are bound to fail. Focus one site to one offer period. Have no other distractions on that particular dedicated site.

If you're a writer, then if I were you, I'd focus on giving away something of quality to build a mailing list and then use your writing skills to market to your list.

Sorry if I've misunderstood your predicament and heck, with my writing skills I shouldn't even be on this part of the forum!

    Best of luck,

    Jeff.
  • Angelita (Nice name, btw),

How about sharing some of your sites so we can help you see what you can improve? If it's not working for you, chances are slim someone's going to copy it it anyway :-)

  • LOL Dan! I'd love to pass you my site address but I don't have access to send you a PM...

Hi Jeff, thanks so much for your feedback! I think you are onto something. I have a site with several offers.

... Is it not ok to have a content site with several offers? So I should choose 1 to promote?

    • Angelita, if you can't post it here, you can feel free to email it to me at dan (at) realsalescopy (dot) com.

Multiple offers aren't bad at all, though you have to do it right. I used to be an affiliate manager for several companies and I saw many huge affiliates bringing in six figure incomes with having multiple offers on a page.

  • Awww, nuts. I'm in the process of creating a product called Presell Mastery which reveals ALL... I'm even surprising myself at just how much is involved in skilful preselling.

Question for you... how are you CURRENTLY preselling? Do you get the traffic, write up a review of the product, and send them on their way via an affiliate link?

If so, I can imagine why you're struggling. Let me know and I'll share a couple of ideas with you. I'll probably be putting together a free email course soon, on preselling. Naturally it will be preselling my main product ... but I'll be sharing plenty of valuable information for free.

    • Angelita, based upon my experience, try this on:

Treat your pre-sell page like an over-sized PPC ad.

What do I mean by that?

The keywords the prospects enter (and you're ranking for) *AND* the pre-sell page must be RELEVANT.

Targeted. Specific. Inextricably linked to each other.

From there, you want to get them to click on the link associated with the offer. The easiest way to do that is a "rave review" format. However there are other formats that are just as viable, like a video testimonial or a comparison chart.

My guess is you are too "generic" in your presell page and the prospect bounces.

Most presell pages I critique try to re-sell the prospect on the same benefits and such as the sales letter. Same ideas, different words.

Just target and write for the keyword or the keyword group.

    • Hi Paul,
I've tried a few different methods - reviews, email followups, recommendations, and comparisons

The funny thing is that according to CB stats - I've had over 300 clicks into my affiliate sales pages - no purchases? .... These CB products are converting (for others I suppose) according to the gravity .. on average of 70.

So, I am left to believe that I failed to pre-sell? ... Also, I would like to see a much higher rate clicking into my affiliate links.

If you want a review of your Presell Mastery when it's ready, let me know please!!.. Feel free to PM me if you want to chat.

ewenmack - Thank you for your insight, I like that

RickDuris - That's interesting, thank you.. I actually have been getting traffic from google for terms I didn't aim for - so perhaps I should review my content to target the search terms..

You said "Most presell pages I critique try to re-sell the prospect on the same benefits and such as the sales letter. Same ideas, different words."

Did you mean to do this? Or not to do it?

    • I would love to learn more about this!
  • @Paul ... that sounds wicked!
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • Hi Daniel,
    Sorry if I wasn't clear:

I've had decent traffic to the site / 300 AFFILIATE link clicks
    No sales

Thanks for all your advice everyone, I really appreciate it!
  • What I do sometimes is ask for a tested email from the vendor.

    • Hi Jason, what do you mean by test email? A sample review or something of that nature?

      Thanks

  • for my stuff, the presell page shows some type of proof, then teases the reader with curiosity and gets them to click.

Thats the only purpose of that page... to get them to click.

Start with the end in mind. Whats your desired result?

Then figure out how you would need to get someone to do that.

What would make YOU do that?

And then setup a few different ideas and TEST.

    • Great advice Dave, thank you!

Quick question? In general, how long should a presell be?

      350-500 words?

      ...

Thanks again everyone, you've all been so helpful!
  • Hello,
I just develop a "pre-sell" page for "law of Attraction. I am Newish, and hope to get feedback.
I have a link in my signature. It is live. I am still "tweaking" my forum profile and settings, I am trying to change my "home site" from Millionaires Dream, to Millionaires Life. If you are new, just set up your signature and home page in your profile, then you will have a link people can click, on each post you create.
