Hi Guys,

I gotta share this...

Basically I just found out about this writer who has just completed writing a biography about a very famous person who I wish not to name.

Now as soon I found out this, I got very excited.

Well this celebrity happens to be my role model since childhood. And he has hudge selling appeal, and its proven cause all past biographies on him has sold like gangbusters.

And main point here to note is that this despite very traditional 'boring' marketing. Hence imagine applying Direct response marketing techniques where desire and emotion are already pre-existing making this a simple job of just channeling that desire to the new book.

Immediately an idea stuck to my mind. Why not try and get a deal out of this writer (I found out he knows zilch about marketing, especially Direct response type marketing).

So maybe get online marketing rights (he has already made offline distrubution arrangements) or just some sort of affiliate set up.

My initial 2 contacts with the writer ended in frustration cause I failed to show him the benefits and show him 'WIFM'.

But not to give up, my 3rd message to him worked because instead of waffling, I laid out my points in benefit bullets as you see in salesletters. This guy probably has never read any writing in direct response fashion and it excited him enough to set up presentation where I can layout the whole plan to him.

Here is the email I sent him packed with benefit bullets that finally convinced him:

Ok having said what I have so far in all our comminications, let me finalize by stating that when you visit London next month, Just give me an hour of your time. And then we can discuss the powerful internet marketing plan I have that will get you as pumped up as I am for this project.

I will reveal to YOU:

----The very 1st thing we must do before embarking on this adventure so as to take out all the guess work...HINT: Prospect,Prospect & Prospect! Once this is done, the path to succesfull campaign is virtually GUARANTEED!

----How simple yet powerful the plan & mode of opertion will be. The tricks, tips and techniques to make this work so that it pulls in order like clockwork!

----How we can start utilizing free internet traffic generation strategies...so that it is virtually risk free. And then once orders start pouring in we can reinvest profits to really get BIG orders!

----The simple trick to get more than 60% off media advertising...Imagine placing an ad on UK's national paper or say top xxxx magazine for 60% off!

----Proven and tested ways to get prospects to buy not just one copy but multiples so we make more money per transaction!

---Exactly how the whole 'thing' can catipulate you to celeberity status...What does this mean? Well simply that your future books will be sold out with pre-orders even before official launch (very powerful). Hint: Think people like Oprah Winfrey!

----Proven & tested formula to get our prospects into buying frenzy by creating irresistable offer that will make it more difficult for them to say 'no' than a 'yes' (they will not be able to go to bed until they get their hand on the book)! Does the image of Selfridges or Debenhams Xmas sale conjure up any thoughts?

----Exact positioning of the book in the mind of our prospects so that they will 'walk over broken glass' to get their hands on it!

----How to sell the books absolutely with zero fulfillment costs...And get the customer to pay upfront!

----How to get a army of super sellers to take the book sales to a totally different humongous level...All without ZERO Marketing costs on our part since it is they who will be doing it (this is as close to passive income or as they say it 'money while you sleep' it gets)

----How to get orders flowing in globally, even as remote places such as Iceland or Mongolia (and they will be more than willing to pay same day shipping charges to get their hands on book)

----How to get avalanche of 'buying' traffic (free of charge) that we may run serious danger of server crash!

----How to get orders flowing in even from those prospects who initially say 'No' to the product...we will make sure no one skips the 'net'!

----Easy ways to make our buyers into our non-commissioned 'salespeople' meaning one buyer itself could be worth hundreds or thousands other buyers!

----How to 'bribe' the prospect into buying the book...getting him to feel we are actually 'over-delivering'. My honest warning - Dont be surprised if you get woken up middle of the night by some desperate prospect begging you to sell him the book copy!

----Exact pshycology to use that will remove any reservation/apprehension/procrastination/doubts in prospects mind at that crucial moment when he is making the all important purchase decision!

----How to subtely take the prospect from 'checking' out the book to actually buying the book (I call this the 'slippery slide' trick) in a way that he feels compelled and will not rest in peace until he gets his hand on the book!

-----'inside secrets' to getting 'free' advertising on national papers and magazines (all it takes is a written letter posted to them)!

----This is a BIG ONE: How to tap into Utube/Google/Facebook and other Social media/networking sites that will provide massive unstoppable momentum bringing in avalanche of cash orders (only problem is we will risk being taken for some kind of 'Drug barons')...And I mean CASH ORDERS daily (Let's say what is a good average for yearly sales, we can achieve that daily, non-stop)!

----How to make it absouletly easy for the prospect to make the purchase decision by using simple but powerful risk-reversal tactics...Even those who may have never heard of xxxxx or have any interest in him will clamour to purchase!

----And don't forget my system will put you in Driver's seat. You will always have the upper hand and will determine how much money you want to make!

Now I ain't no copywriter, never wrote a single line of copy before.

But cause I badly want this deal with him, I plucked all my knowledge and understanding of copywritting that I have learned from reading great classics/salesletter and offcourse from this forum to package what I wanted to tell him in this fashion so as to invoke a positive response from him which I finally did.

Goes to show that D.R. Marketing/copywriting skill can be applied to any given situation that demands persuasiveness.

Also this guy does not know zilch about Print on Demand, so in addition to Internet direct response marketing, in the actual presentation if I can get him to see the advantage using POD route, that would be great if he agreed cause there is more profits with POD method I believe.

Thanks for staying with me here. Just am excited and thought best to share with you my spontenous copywriting venture.

BTW: What do u think of those bullets I have written?

Cheers.

Congrats, I'm sure it feels good to have stuck with it and gotten him in the end. I think the bullets sound pretty compelling, well done. It seems like a lot of points to throw at him in one email, but do you think that ended up working to your advantage?

Hank said it: "Writing is the way to learn writing."

        I couldn't agree more!
And may I suggest E.B. White's classic essay, "The Elements of Style."

Sparkie, I noticed this book's name come up in few other posts.

Have you yourself got a copy of it?

And is it a book on general English language or does it cover the field of direct response copywriting?

I have searched for and came across some reviews and description of this book but still not clear as to whether it is useful if you want to learn direct response copy.

          Kindly enlighten me!

Well as stated, my 1st 2 initial contact with this writer failed to generate any interest or response from him.

But the last message which I have shown here did the trick of getting a much more positive and excited response from the writer. And now he is eager to hear my presentation.

Apart from showing him and proving the advantage of online marketer marketing his book, I will also try to get him to see the benefits of Print on Demand because using this route will mean higher share of profits coming to him as opposed to traditional book publishing route where the publishers normally take the lion share of profits. But I will pitch the POD method as additional to traditional book distribution so that he has multi-channel distribution.
