For Sales Videos that are tooooooooooo long!

Hi,

This is not my site, but I just saw it and I think it is a good idea.

Especially when there is a long sales video and a prospect hasn't the time to watch the whole thing.

    This will not increase sales.

The REAL problem is the video copy is not compelling or interesting enough. Having people "shortcut" or "cut to the chase" will do nothing--and in fact, it may suppress sales.

If you think about it for more than a few seconds, you'll realize you want people SALIVATING over your offer/opportunity. And the more they wait, the more they listen to the benefits, the more they'll be inspired spend the time and ultimately PURCHASE.

I suspect giving them "an easy out," you actually lose sales because you won't have the opportunity to share the entire message.

    In other words, you self-sabotage.

Or to put Rick's point another way...

...your message can never be too long, only too BORING!

      All the best,
      Ewen

      In most cases... yes.

      But not always, rick.

In the case of a huge guru with a sufficiently primed and pumped presell, you often have prospects so ready to order before the letter/video even gets launched. Those people can and will go away if they have to wait much longer.

I made the same mistake as you, Rick. I used the same thinking as a standard with every client. It wasn't until I got notes on a letter from Clayton, that I saw the error of my ways.

The letter was for a big marketer and one of Clayton's only notes to me was... "Give the rabid fans a way to order right away or you'll lose them."

I did... and well... $1 Million + in around 18 hours.

Now... whenever I write for a big launch... with a well-respected guru... I always split test this (at least).

You are right...I should have said that I wish more people used something like this. It is not necessarily a good or bad idea.

If someone wants to buy something after 2-3 minutes, and you make them wait 10 minutes, you could lose them...they may just not have the time to listen to the whole thing.

On a long sales page you can just skip to the bottom (as I usually do).

Sometimes on long sales letters they have purchase links near the top and in the middle. This would be something like that.

I guess in any offer you should test to see what works.

So stupid. Why not just have a "Subscribe Now" button?

Unless I am missing something, there is no point to this product.
