Re Publishing

I have just written a book and have gotten it published. from what I am reading the author usually gets the smallest piece of the pie. I was just wondering if one could go about Re Publishing their book at a later date using their own marketing campany and promoting the book themselves so that they can make more money from their product? Any advice?

  • That information should be spelled out in the contract you signed with your publisher. There's no rule of thumb but I've seen contracts where the publisher will give up rights to a book (providing it's not selling) after a couple of years. Sometimes they want a token payment, sometimes not.

    One thing you might want to do is check with the publisher about getting a deep discount on your books and then selling them yourself. I just finished putting up a site that discusses that very thing. Take a look:
