Please let me know what you think about my sales page

According to Google Analytics my stats are
Average time on site 14 sec
Conversion rate 0.9%

I am wondering if the sales page looks too much like a sales page and is therefore driving visitors away right away.
Many of visitors spend less than 2 sec on page.

Jobs For Computer Consultants, Programmers, DB2 DBAs, Siebel, Programming, Support

Thank you

That's what I'd like to know, has a page rank of 2?

      That's pretty amazing, I'd say.

A Domain from 2005, you have yourself a nice little honey pot. However with lousy copy no matter how old your domain is, what your page rank is and how much traffic you throw at it, you're doomed.

they are leaving practically before their "http get" even parses the page; that's because your hook needs SERIOUS work. That's where I'd start.

      All the best,

      Ross

I did some more research for you; your keyword "computer consultant" is another part of the problem. You're getting 98% of your traffic from that keyword. How do you know it's not businesses looking for a consultant versus people looking how to become a consultant? I think I have found your Achilles' heel.

You are correct. Originally i thought that computer consultant would be a good keyword but then realized that it was not. Even if i look at oher job related keywords the time on the site is still pretty small.

I tried adwords but it was getting expensive pretty quickly.

The domain was first registered by someone else. I only have it for 2 years.

What do you think would be a good hook?

Just to add to what Ross said because was curious on your traffic sources and because targeted traffic or a target audience is always the way to go...Your 2nd highest search traffic comes from "ted computer consulting" last month.

I would definitely fix the copy and then bring in targeted traffic to see what new results are before going off current stats. Those stats now most likely will not reflect accurate numbers and or conversions since a lot of the traffic is not targeted at what you offer.

A quick glance and I'd say you've done a really good job. Can it be improved? It always can, do some testing. The only glaring flaw I see is that you've minimized the "Buy Now" button and pushed it off to the side. That should be addressed.

Well the copy is abysmal too, it was engineered around the keyword "computer consultant" and not the product itself.

I verified this against the keyword density, this is great for SEO (when targeted) not so much for good copy.

Lose the yellow highlighter for starters.

Didn't we critique this before? Like, months ago?

They're clicking off because it's boring. Hang on ...

OK. Back. You need targeted traffic. And then you need to get their juices flowing. So instead of that lame headline...go for the jugular. Something like -

    Hot Programmer huh?
    How would you like
    a new Porsche 911
    by this Summer?

here's where the real money is Dude ...

but really. Bite the bullet and hire a copywriter. Just as I wouldn't dream of trying to write my own computer programs.

If you did nothing else but add this hook to the top of your letter your visitors would READ on, that's what a hook is for. Take this mans advice and hire him if he is offering.

You have an aged domain, you could pump some real link juice to it without even being flagged by google. Choose the right keywords to go along with that and you could change your conversions easily.

That's what I would do if I wanted to make more money off a sweet domain like this one.

  • Ok, I've been lazy and haven't paid attention to how many changes this ad has gone through but here's what I think of it in the moment...

First, I think you're doing great with not having a bunch of clutter at the top of the site that distracts from the message but that free floating header is pointless. If you can get it out, just do it. I'm partial to a clean design and while that isn't dirty, it serves zero purpose AND it pushes copy down the page that might compel someone to scroll down and hang out longer to see what this is all about.

Another thing that's kinda bugging me design wise is how much white space there is between the blue and the copy. By you shrinking down and bringing the blue to where it's hugging the words my focus gets pulled into the message easier. Right now my focus is wanting to expand to fill that white space which is kinda annoying. Small concern, easy fix.

Next, one thing I'm thinking could help your headline, visually is to get quotes around it. It gives a headline a whole different feel, the feel that someone is saying it is the opposite of what ads do. Ads don't talk with you. They talk at you.

I think you need to hold off on directly selling yourself so soon. The thing most marketers don't get is ANYTHING you say is selling yourself but when what you're saying is focused on you and not on your prospect, it's easy for them to tune out. Of course you need proof but you want to start by stepping into the conversation they're already having with themselves with has nothing to do with... " Ihave been a Computer Consultant for over 10 years working for Fortune 100 industrial companies, large banks and major Wall Street firms."

The first sentence you wrote does and even the one after that does but one of the designs I've seen lately that I favor is from one of Eben Pagan's letters for his dating programs. He starts promising a benefit like you but here's how he keeps the conversation rolling forward...

    Hey Man,

I want to ask you four questions. Answer honestly.

Do you want to learn how to make women laugh more?

Do you ever feel like you don't know how to make women laugh enough?

Have you ever been talking to a woman... and the conversation got "slow", and you knew that if you could just make her laugh that everything would be OK?

Do you feel that if you could make a woman laugh, you're more likely to get a date with her... and more likely to get a kiss... and more likely to get "physical" with her as well?

I'll bet that you answered "Yes" to one or more of those questions.

How? Am I freakin' psychic or something?

    No, not exactly.
    ===========
    END EXAMPLE
    ===========

Do you see how he demonstrated he knew what he was talking about by asking questions and NOT talking about what a bad ass he is? Also take note of how he was directing you to go inside and check on "How you feel about" the question instead of just asking "Do you..."

If you know your market, you can ask questions just like this which let your prospect know you're in tune with their scenario, the problem, their challenge of the moment.

All of these adjustments have to do with the top fold of this letter (what people can see on the screen without having to scrolll). Nothing else matters if you don't crush it here. Test these subtle tweaks and see what happens..

It's just too hard to read man...

...it's easier for them to click next.

Sure your offer is good, but no one wants to dig for it...

...they want it laid in their lap, in a way that encourages readership.

Rewrite and edit or get someone who can.

The page has zero credibility. I know I've seen more "sales letter" pages than most, but even if this was the first I'd ever seen, I wouldn't trust it.

First thing I'd do would be: Add a real person. Show a photo (or, even better, a video) of the person who's telling you this stuff.

And the grey header needs something in it, even if it's just a repeat of the domain name, to help confirm you're in the place you thought you were going to.

#1 question in the visitor's mind: "Am I in the right place?"

Help them answer that for themselves.

And I suggest making your "Buy now" call to action MUCH bigger & more obvious. I've doubled the conversion rate on one of my clients' sales pages by doing just that. (Check out bibletimeline dot net.)

      Thank you all.

I was just looking at Google Analytics report for yesterday and i got 13 visitors from Warrior forum. Interesting thing is that average time on the site is shown as 0.

I am sure people spent more than a second to review the site so this makes me wonder how accurate Google Analytics is.

You piqued my curiosity when you said visitors only spent 2 seconds on your
    site...I wanted to know why.

Without reading any of the text...The site looks like a site selling sexual performance
enhancing drugs or a pyramid scheme. Change the whole look of the site.

Most I.T. programmers are smart people. They see your site and it screams hard-sell and possibly some sort of a scam.

They expect to see something like

    Check out Jeffersonmaguire co.uk

for what a recruitment website should look like.

Originally my sales page was conservative looking, no big red letters etc.

Then several people suggested (on another thread) that i follow the more standard format (big red letters etc.) which is what i did.

In fact, if you see porsche example above this is what its implying.

I know this is a matter of opinion but is there a right and wrong way to do this???

I couldn't relate at all. I read four sentences and my mind wandered off to tropical islands.

I'm not a consultant, but if you could show me WHY I would want to be one, that would be great. Maybe I could switch careers. But I hope the career isn't as boring as the copy.

You may want to invest in a professional looking design. To be honest, I would think your website is a scam if I were visiting it for the first time. There are some people here in the Warrior Forum that sell professional templates for cheap. I know a guy that designs professional looking templates for a good price.

Of course not everyone needs a professional looking design to make money, but professional designs make visitors feel more secure.

Think of yourself as the customer visiting the website, what first goes on your mind?

    "Is this legit?"

    "Can I trust this website?"

    "Will my information be safe?"

Also you may need to make sure you're using the correct keywords. Visitors that have no interest on what you're offering is wasted traffic.

Hope I could help a little. Good luck on your business.
