Do I need a copywriter or....

Hi,
I am in the process of planning out a project for the new year. It is a project based on 1-day - One Day 3 Great Deals, Today Only! Daily Deals

I want to open it with a competition for iPads at $1.00 each (the more people you refer to the site - the more entrys you receive as the ipads are limited)

I am looking for suggestions on either employing a copywriter to write site content and 5-10 autoresponders or doing the copy and content myself, I have a copywriter Edit/improve it.

It won't be direct response copy (as in wanting a sale) but more to make people promote/take the actions to promote the site. (clear concise, easy to follow actions)

Any suggestions on what I really need or even suggestions or reliable writers to employ are welecome.

The process of starting it out yourself and doing 2-3 revisions before getting a writer involved will usually force you to clarify your idea (which leads to saving money).

Hi, I am new to copywriting. How does writing your own copy that ends up in the hands of a real copywriter save you money?

      Best,

      Ross

I believe the idea is that I clarify what I want the page to say, which gives the idea to copywriter, rather that starting from a blank sheet of paper.

Narrow down the 3 easy steps one must take to get a chance for the $1 iPad. Something like:

      1. "Enter name and email to register."
      2. "Earn chances to win by invite friends and family to join through your link."
      3. "Redeem your chances on the 30th of every month."

In this regard, it's more of a squeeze page than a sales page - you're capturing leads, basically. At the same time, you do have to convince the visitors that you're legit, so the site will have to look clean and have proper disclaimers in place. I can help you out if you're interested.

      Best Regards,

it is always best to have an idea of what you want to say, and have the copywriter tweak how you say it

PM me if you need a copywriter! I don't mind throwing some ideas around via PM

I think there is slight more to it than that- thats only the home page. Yes optin ins, but also the page that follows and the autoreponders

Writing from scratch is a lot easier than trying to "fix" bad copy.

    Trust me on this.

If you're serious about this project, shell out several grand for a good copywriter.

They'll know what needs to be said on the page.

If not, you might be best off just doing it yourself. It'll take a lot of trial and error, but at least you won't be throwing money at someone who doesn't know how to get those conversions happening.

I feel like most copywriters know how to sell IM or digital products, or general things like software, consumer services, etc. My company might need someone who knows a very narrow, very specific type of people inside and out.

If anyone knows a good copywriter who can sell to non-profits, particularly prospect researchers and major gifts coordinators and directors of advancement and such, hit me up.

Get in touch with Collette Gillingham (I think that's her last name). Her user name on these forums is just "Collette", I think.

She's brilliant at that type of stuff... and a very classy lady to boot.

        She's not bargain basement, though.

If you do some ground work, such as what you want to say and bullet points then the copywriter saves so time.

Some copywriters prefer to do there own research so you wont save any money.

I'd advise you to get a professional copywriter.

even though it might sound as a cliche, the professional copy can significantly boost your conversion ratio
