How to Open Up .DOCX?

This usually requires (I think) at least MS Word 2007. That's what I have and they open just fine.

If you're still stuck, here's a handy little website I have in my favorites:

I just tried the software that Mike suggested, and it seemed to work like a charm ... opened .docx and output as .pdf.

[Edit] Bruce posted his suggestion while I was typing, so off to try that too.

BTW, ISTR that Microsoft had to remove .docx support from Word due to infringing on another companies technology.

You can possibly try Open Office or if you have an older version of Office (like 2003). Just download the Office compatibility pack from Microsoft Support

Best of all use Google Docs. No downloads and no licenses.

Either email the file to yourself or upload it to the Google Docs account directly.

Some more good and highly efficient web editors/convertors are there such as zoho - hxxp://viewer.zoho.com/converter (change hxxp to http) - You can edit your docs online save them send to someone etc etc ... and yes, obviously convert them as well.

  Ditto what Bruce said... just email it to me as an attachment and I'll convert it for you in three clicks.
  
  I've had to do this for quite a few clients... so now I remember to "save as" instead of just "save" for my final documents. It can be quite an issue!

You can open .DOCX files with all the latest versions of MS office.. Try using that..

Older versions of Word have a patch, offered by Microsoft, which allow you to read the DOCX and DOCM format.
