I need to write a compelling sales pitch for my ghostwriting business

Do you have any pointers for me? I am absolutely hopeless at selling, so I need something that doesn't look hypey or fake. Thanks!

    Hi Charlotte,

Have you decided on the type and size businesses
you would like to work with yet?

That is always the first step to match your message to them.

If you are targeting bigger businesses that operate mostly offline,
then the best way to get your foot in the door is to offer them
    valuable information.

This can be in the way of, say in the day spa business,
that over the last 5 years, there has been an increse of over 5,000
    new spas opened.

Since the recession that number of increases hasn't declined.

I don't know the exact numbers, but I did see the explosion
    of numbers recently.

At the end of the report you offer your solution.

That solution can be an article or press release distributed
to show the reader your value.

Whatever industry or type of business you go after,
there is valuable insights that can be found about their industry
that they don't know about, but would like to know.

It's about showcasing your value and expertise, not cold
    hard selling...

...especially when dealing with more sophistacted business owners and executives.

Let me know if you need more help.

    All the best,
    Ewen

Write a "mistakes report" of interest to your prospects. At the end of the report, include a soft pitch stating who you are, what you've done, and what services you offer.

Give the report a catchy title, something like, "The 5 Mistakes Most Internet Marketers Make When Writing E-Books". (The title, of course, should target your prospects specifically.)

Also in favour of the report. Write it as a PDF, introduce yourself at the front, and load it with evidence of your credibility.

You won't have to sell. If you can show willing people just how much you know, and just how valuable that is, and just how much it can help their business, so that they get the idea in their hearts as well as their minds, and then also leave some dark corners, the suggestion that there's an art to this, and anyway you Mrs. Business Owner, don't have time to do all this for yourself, that's where I come in to help businesses.

So, by the end of this free report, you've established your credibility 100% (not by telling us your skills and value-add, but by showing us), and you've explained how you work, and for whom.

So anyone who fits into your target market will know it 100%.

Then you just put your contact info.

The other thing I'd suggest, find some contacts who have large email lists already (I have 4000 names on my list, for example, and I have friends with 25,000 and more), and just ask them straight-up if they'd like to send this free report out to their people. They can only say no. Or yes.

    Charlotte,

I too am a ghostwriter who is not a salesperson. What I do when I go to live networking events where I target certain markets is test out different pitches. Once I said I was the fairy bookmother and everyone I touch with my wand I turn into an author. It got a great response. In sales, I focus on the benefit, the end result. See your name on the cover of your book, see the passive income pouring in from your ebook sales, etc. To me allowing the prospect to see the end result from working with me is about as compelling as I need to be. I do my best not to be salesy but to be genuinely concerned about helping people reach their writing goals.

    Hope that helps,
    Andrea

I am a ghostwriter as well and know quite a bit about Internet marketing so I use both skills to help business owners get more traffic to their online business using article writing and article marketing. That is a big benefit to sell because the economy has put a dent in the bottom line of many online business owners. You don't have to be an Internet marketer yourself. You can outsource the work to someone else. So as the previous commenter suggested: offer concrete benefits in your sales letter. It will sell.

I've always thought there could be a spin on "The Phantom" for a ghostwriter but instead of "The ghost who walks" you're "The ghost who writes". But may not work for a lady ghost writer.

    Hi Charlotte,

Over at this link The 10 x 10 x 4 Market Domination Formula | Traffic Geyser, you will find a simple, but super effective way to market your business.

What's more, the content comes from your clients,
therefore much less brain strain on your part.

To see how it's done, in a non-hype and authentic way,
the author explains on video and PDF.

No email needed, just a great formula ready to be used.

    All the best,
    Ewen

P.S. think of what you are going to do as a process,
not one action that makes the sale.
