Just curious, is there anyone here who just writes for a living, as in self-employed freelance writer?

Don't know about your definition of "writing for a living"... but I have written for my sanity practically all my life.

I love writing fiction, all sorts - but specializing in ghost stories. Before I got my own computer, my boss let me type in one of my stories during lunch at work. Once he popped in unexpectedly. I was so absorbed in my own spooky world that he literally scared the living begezzis out of me!

This carries over well into my copywriting. I can create vivid, believable characters and compelling scenarios easily and well. This is a very strong form of proof - if you can do it right. And it's also a wonderful way to "suck" your reader into the sales text.

I've also kept a diary most of my life. Some parts are really quite funny to look back on... such as teenage slumber parties (the old-fashioned term for sleep-overs) where I had to tell my ghost stories into the dark until my voice gave out. My friends told me that listening to me was like watching a movie in their minds.

    Hope this helps,

I think he may be asking if you're writing provides food in your stomach, roof over your head, and to provide for family?

Not in full time, my main focus is teaching, design and web development, but I write small articles for a long time, and have been writing some novels and technical books. I bought some good "how to write" related books from Amazon, if you want some suggestions I can post them.
I have 15+ years of experience & millions of visitors (I'm also a warrior since 2002)!

I have attempted on many occasions to write my life story but it fails me each time.
Maybe I have a lifelong infection of "Writer's Block"?
If the pros here could get in touch with me and give me some pointers that would be great.

I'm a writer for a living and I'm a children's writer. On the writing for a living side, I've written around a thousand articles as a ghostwriter and a couple hundred more with my byline. I'm a professional blogger, too. On the children's writer side, I just had an article accepted by Highlights for Children. I was so excited about that $30 check!

Yes. I have written many Ezine Articles, ghostwritten, and blog posts. I am still trying to figure out how to monetize my writing better. Because I am not receiving the pay I know I deserve.

I write but I don't make that much out of it. I'm just flourishing my writing skills for now and maybe make it a full-time job in the future.

I'm actually a free lance writer full time. I've had a bunch of articles published for other people, and I have had a few of my non-copywrite stuff get published. I'm working on a book right now, basically it's about my life; what it was like growing up with 10 brother and sisters and a mother who was never there...it's going to be great! LOL

yes, I write articles, I blog a lot, I write poetry and lyrics, and I've written one or two short stories in the fantasy genre. I've never been paid directly for my writing, though my words have made me money.

    Writer's rules:

    (7) Unless your name is Colin Powell, Jennifer Anniston, or Beck Weathers, don't write stories about yourself. It may be unfortunate, it may be unfair, but the truth is, no one cares but you.
