Any examples of brilliant online sales copy?

Hi Gang. I'm studying the hell out of marketing. Mostly online direct sales copywriting.

Now what I would like to see are examples of extremely well written, modern sales copy. Something I can model.

I'm currently reading The adweek copywriting handbook. Great stuff.

Go to the clickbank marketplace and look for high gravity products. Chances are, that copy is converting well. Obviously it it possible that it is high gravity for reasons other than the strength of the copy, but in general I think you will find high quality copy this way.

Another way to find some high quality copy is to look in a business opportunity magazine. To know what is selling, look and see if the same ad appears over and over again. If it does, chances are that it converts well (otherwise why would they keep running it?).

I hope that these two ideas are helpful to you!

I think about this every time I see this one particular ad in music magazines. It's two full pages! Mostly text, having to do with acquiring "Perfect Pitch". You might want to check it out.

    How do you define modern?

And did you look through the sticky post at the top of this forum?

After that, do a google search for the people you consider to be good modern copywriters, and add "swipe file" to the search.

This forum has numerous references to good copy although the search terms might be a bit harder find. But browsing here can be good for the copywriters soul .

Gee man, whilst I respect you for trying to learn about this industry, for pete's sake use your noggin.

There's a Search function on that red navigation bar at the top of the forum over on the right hand side. Failing that, use Google.

You've only been studying this craft for a few days. All the pro copywriters here study this subject intensively for years. And they've got to where they are today because they use some initiative.

It's okay to ask questions but when they're as basic as this and have been asked several times over it gets a little old.

Seriously, use the search function a lot more and click on Advanced Search.

    Help yourself.

How many times a day do you get called a "See You Next Tuesday"??? I'm guessing AT LEAST 7 or 8.

You seem very friendly. And by friendly, I mean you have the charm of Charles Manson.

Geez, get offended much? Oh noz! Oh noz! Somebody be askin' for a little advice on a forum built for giving other people advice! Quick! Tar and feather that god forsaken SOB! Make him think twice before he tries to get some writing advice to better his writing skills!

Go play in the street. Or go get some friends. Do something other than crying about people coming on here looking for reviews/advice. Actually, just go play in the street. Preferably a busy one. Do society a favor. Thanks.

With one whole post and having just joined, I am impressed that you are able to tell what people are like that have been around a lot longer than you.

Personally, I think your post is reportable, but I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt as this is your first post.

The Manson line was pretty funny though.

By itself, I thought it was funny too. It would probably be a great line to use in one of your comedy routines .

But it wasn't funny in the context of the rest of the post.

How dare you compare Charles Manson to copywriters.

He only killed people once... as far as I'm aware.

  • Ok, I'm a TOTAL FAN of Eben Pagan.

I can't help myself. He's just plain amazing in my mind when it comes to copywriting and the bigger picture it fits into, marketing.

If you go to his site, doubleyourdatingdotcom, you'll see some ABSOLUTELY brilliant copy. Might not be for your market, but there's a good chance those ads of Joe Sugarman's you're reading in that book aren't either. Doesn't mean there's not stuff you can swipe there.

One of the things you want to swipe from Eben's letters on that site would be the design... the layout of the letters.

While I've been taken notes on his Guru Blueprint Program he's been pointing out to us how we should focus on how we can mimic the trust built into a handwritten letter. When you go to his site and to his sales pages, you'll see they're free of clutter and it's just a letter from me to you. The tone is from me to you. His openings are also engaging usually asking questions that pull you into the copy and verify to yourself that this is where you should be.

Go check him out and buy anything he sells on marketing/copywriting. He's money in the bank!!!

Great copywriting book to study. If you haven't studied John Caples' Tested Advertising Methods yet, then I'd suggest studying that one next.

Okay, let me give you a great way to find some extremely well written modern sales copy.

Pick 5 copywriters who you think are top-notch copywriters and write copy the way that you naturally connect with.

Go to their copywriting websites. Check out their client testimonials & portfolios there, especially any pieces that they mention converted well.

Modeling copy can be a good tactic... make sure you're not plagiarizing it though or you will quickly kill your professional reputation as a marketer or copywriter (or both).

    Best of luck,

    Mike
