Question on paying for a Sales Copy (should it come with formatting?? - Help!)

Hi guys, here's there deal..

I have a site done, it's set up with multiple links the people can visit... Has a home page, sales page etc etc...

I'm looking into just converting the content of all the pages into a very long 1 page sales letter, and paying for a professional copywrite, while still implimenting my content (i have some proof content, pictures, video etc)

I'm thinking that, the person that actually writes my sales letter, is going to have it in his head how everything is formatted, to gel with the sales letter..

Is it common practice for copywriters to either format the site for you or have someone else do it the way they envision it? Or will it be up to me, to basically take a word document with the copy I just paid for, and THEN pay someone else to format it all for me?

thanks for your assistance

Most of the copy I purchase usually comes to me a word doc. Heads and subheads and pull quotes and the like are setup in the word doc.

      Hi Jusumax,

When I create a sales letter I supply it as a Word .doc, showing all the bold, italic and other elements that add a conversational tone to the narrative.

Also, I show the testimonials where they should come in the text for maximum advantage, as well as the colored headlines and subheadlines.

I think you'll find that will be the case with most good copywriters.

      Warmest regards,

      Paul

I provide an HTML layout, usually within the marketer's graphic header. I add graphic headlines, graphic bullets, checkmarks, photos, etc. I know Vin Montello does this also. It is a time sink but I enjoy doing it.

If the question is whether you should pay or do it yourself, then the answer is time and money. If you have the time then you can save money. Otherwise, spend the money to save time.

If you do it yourself, and it does not work, you can spend more time to tweak it again and again, and all it costs you is time. The question is do you have time?

But if the question whether most copywriters also do formatting? Yeah, I think that is the normal practice as they need to know what the final presentation should look like.

    ...my two cents.

I always do formatting in a doc file... but if you're asking if the copywriter should go in themselves and place it on your website, well that's between you and your copywriter.

Personally, I don't touch the actual website html, but if your copywriter provides you with formatting in word, it should be a piece of cake to apply it wherever you need to!
