A FREE Lesson in Headline Writing From WSO

This is a simple but rewarding exercise for those who want to
improve their headline writing skills. Just go to the WSO section
of this board and take a look at the headlines that are doing
very well. Notice anything common between them?

You have to factor in the reputation of the poster along with
the nature of the offer, but at least the number of views the
WSO had should give you a fair enough indication of how
powerful the subject line was. I see the same pattern in the
main section of the board as well.

Headlines that follow the formula:

"How I made $XXX.XX in XX Days Using _______ " do very well.

My guess is because it is SPECIFIC, Targeted and "How to"
headlines are very effective.

So, not only when you are writing your headlines for the WSO, but
also for your sales letters, it doesn't hurt to check out the
LIVE headline-writing laboratory in the WSO.

Good call. I think those "How-To" headlines also indicate what kind of products sell well in the WSO forum.

Some time ago I noticed any WSO with "plr" in the title seemed to get a lot of attention.

Speaking of PLR, this seems to be a business model where those who
sell the PLR products are the ones making the money and not those
      who sell the bought products.

The same seem to apply to Public Domain products--the money
is in selling the opportunity to use public domain products not
selling the products themselves--you know the typical picks
and shovel analogy for gold diggers.

      Again, I may be wrong.

Sounds right. Do you think it's because selling PLR products isn't a good business or because of inaction? I'd imagine it depends on the quality of the PLR.

And if it's inaction, well that applies to probably all IM products.

Well, a basic question the buyer has to ask is "why is this person selling this product,
why not keep all the secrets and make all the money?" (And BTW, this is a questions
that the copywriter has to answer as well.) For example once I bought a software
product for $3,000 to create those "junk adsense pages" because the creator
had been 'secretly' using the same to make a truckload of money. But I only realized
too late that he sold the software AFTER it was no longer effective on the results
he got before it no longer worked.

At the same time I was using a $250 software that made close to $10,000 in
Adsense revenue. So the bigger investment did not translate into more
      income.

So it is a legitimate questions for the buyer to ask why the seller is promoting an
"opportunity" that he could capitalize on and make all the money for himself.

I would like to know what's the name of the product?

This is the key question and very valid one at that indeed. Very simple analogy that you must have seen, you can make $XX in buying/selling real estate but you can earn $XXXXXXXXXX by teaching it.

That product was Niche Portal Builder from Novasoft. One of the few
products that really made money for me online although I'm not big
          in the Adsense sites anymore.

I agree very much with Ray. on both points.
Wish I could say it as well too.

Ray - I did read the WSO offers and headlines. (part of why I rejoined WF)
I looked at the ones that interested me and compared them to the ones where the views and comments were high. I think it is a great study.

As for why people sell PLR or other things recycled...
I am cynical about most things people sell.

If I were making money, I wouldn't share with anyone other than close friends probably. That sounds bad, but isn't it really true?

If I found a way to make 10k a month and thought I was unique, I would be trying to turn it into 100k or more.

If I sold it out right to 100s or more, wouldn't it be likely that I am not making as much money as before?

Or could it be that I am more lazy now? This method took more work. Now that I have more money, I flip real estate or something like that and no longer have an interest in this other money system due to time. It is easier and faster to sell it.

If someone sold coaching with it, I would believe more that it still works. But otherwise I, like Ray, wonder why you would sell it, unless, you are getting out or not doing as well. Either way, diluting it by selling it is mostly going to profit the seller of the opportunity.

Either way, the facts remain that few that buy will use it. Fewer will probably profit.

I think that is why reallly effective copywriting is SO important. IM product buyers are cycling.

SO while many get burned out on chasing the dream, many more come in burned out on the 9-5. So either way, the best copywriting pulls in from both camps - able to overcome the burned out IM buyers and able to bring in the new hopefuls.

That sounds like I am making copywriting out to be bad, but hopefully it shows that copywriting has to be all that much better. A good product needs to stand out even more than the tired, old, bad ones.

I offered PLR rights to a product of mine... and then realized "wait a minute! why would i want to create my own competition on a brand new book"?

Maybe in 3 months I'll sell PLR- maybe never.

Thank G-d no one bought PLR before I pulled that option off the table.

Master Resale Rights? Sure! but PLR? nuh-uh....

Headlines: On WF any thread with an income claim in the
title brings 'em running. People here are hungry for
actionable methods and a specific dollars to days ratio
    brings the people in.

PD,PLR, etc: what is in short supply is the creative energy
to turn PD into something marketable today. Of course
you can sell the plan to a guy but then he sites there
with no creative ideas of his own and goes nowhere with
it. Focused creativity of this kind is a skill a lot of folks
don't have developed. They don't want to think, they want
to get the money - so if you can sell solutions that give
folks a way to make money without thinking or being
creative you can make some money telling them how easy
    it is.
