Freelance Copywriter's Role In Affiliate Marketing?

When it comes to freelance copywriting, would you say it is easy to get jobs writing affiliate copy for affiliate marketers? In other words, do affiliate marketers write copy themselves or do they mostly contract the writing out to dedicated copywriters?

The reason I ask this is because I'd like to write B2C affiliate copy without having to bear affiliate marketing hosting responsibility.

I'd appreciate your thoughts.

  • I've mostly worked with clients who've got their own products. They usually have the investment money for a copywriter. I suppose some superstar affiliates may also, but I haven't worked with any yet.
  • One of my longest client relationships (5-6 years) is an affiliate marketer with 99% of the copy written for him to promote affiliate products.

    • Most marketers, like myself, pay for copy. It's far efficient to use my time making money selling than to write copy. When we work with our celebrity clients, we use some of the money that pay us to get copy written.

  • I do both, but I also began my internet marketing career as a copywriter. I think that if someone were to invest time in learning the basics of copywriting that the internet would be a much more legible place.
