Essential Information Most Copywriting Books Never Mention or Only Gloss Over
I've been reading many of the classic books on copywriting with a personal interest in direct response. Most of the books and courses that I've come across seem to only talk about the art of writing copy and not actually making a career from it. Those that do talk about the career or business side, either pass up direct response entirely or offer a paragraph or two on it.
So my questions to you are:
- How does one break into direct response copywriting and manage to make a career out of it?
- Do you know of any step by step guides somewhere that discuss this?
I know about reading and practicing and developing a portfolio. What I really want to know is how to get jobs, clients, arrange fees (hopefully value based), who to contact, etc.
Once again I am not looking for information on 'commercial copywriting' as Peter Bowerman put it, but for direct response copywriting like mailing packages, print advertisements, online landing pages etc...
Thanks!
