Need Help: How to get local mailing lists

Okay. I'm in a research phase for a project and realize that part of what I'm offering may include a direct mailing to a specified neighborhood. However, I have no idea how to find mailing lists of that kind.

Are they expensive? Are there more economical ways to go about it? I'm looking to plaster several suburbs with this direct mail promotion.

    Google your County, property appraiser.

    More and more of them are letting you search records online and download them.
