Can anyone become a world beating copywriter?

Just as it say's on the tin really.

I've not been doing this long and i've made a bit of money but it hasn't taken long to realise that the real money is in the copy.

Whether it's writing for other people, affiliate marketing or promoting your own products.

There just seems that there are so many ways to earn money with this one single skill and I would love to learn how to do it effectively.

    Hi Ben,

This sounds like a 'born talent' versus 'learned talent' question.

Here's my thoughts on it - when there's something you feel passionate about learning, you pick up every book on it, keep a humble 'always a student' attitude about it, and practice what you learn whenever you can with solid determination. With that, you can become a master of whatever you choose focus on.

I believe this is true of most 'art forms' (writing, painting, singing, etc.)

But to become truly great at anything, I believe you have to fully enjoy your pursuit in and of itself. That means, you'd find pleasure in all the hard work that goes into learning and performing it - even if it didn't make you a cent.

As far as being a world beating copywriter... well I had some bizarre images come to mind with that phrase - so I'm going to leave it alone

Some people who sell copywriting courses say so. (Moral: never take advice from somebody trying to sell you something.)

Copywriting is like any other skill. Some people are naturally gifted, some have to work hard at it, and some will never be good at it no matter how long they beat their heads against the wall.

I don't know what a "world beating" copywriter is.

Every copywriter loses at some point. They get beaten by rank amateurs who saw an opportunity they didn't. As a result, the noob outpulled them.

Copywriting is simple - sell ****.

Most "elite" writers have just been selling **** a long time.

Wonderful thing about this craft - it really is like wine. You can't write copy for decades and not become a beast.

My advice: don't worry about being "an elite" or 'world's best' or any of this "A-level" bull****. Just focus on writing copy that sells, and you'll get there by happy coincidence.

No. I believe there has to be some inherent writing talent present. Without that someone can maybe become a proficient copywriter but never world beating. I take that to mean, elite. IMO, the elite in any field are born with talent they then develop.

I think it is still about loving what you're doing. Because when you have the talent and your too lazy to write then what's the use of your talent. But when you love writing and don't have the talent, you can learn and be able to get some tips through research online or if you really want to learn more you can study and take up some course to develop and for sure you'll learn a lot and be a good copywriter.

      Yes.

      Now here comes the if...

If you go into a market where the ads are puny
and results are measured by sales, then all you have to do is beat
      those poor performing ones.

In the advertisers world, you are a world beater.

      Best,
      Ewen
