Does an informative salespage have to be boring?

I am currently finishing off a salespage in the IM niche which is extremely informative in my opinion for all marketers. However, I am having difficulty also making it interesting enough so that it sells the final product.

Do any of you have examples you can show me of when you have managed to pull this off or any advice.

Thanks,

Ben Shaffer

    Hi Ben,

I wrote about that very subject in this blog post ...

Copywriting Tips And Tricks Secrets of Value Added Copywriting

You are really asking about "soft selling" the reader into buying your product.
I don't know the nature of your product but this works better for some
    markets than others.

Let me know what you product category is and I can give you some
    suggestions.

Thanks Ray. Extremely interesting article. I don't really want to give away the exact niche in the open, but it is an Internet Marketing product aimed at internet marketers. A great equivalent product in a slightly different niche may be a platform which helps people to sell Private Label Right products.

So, what I have done is:

      1. Explain what PLR is
      2. Explain how you can profit from PLR
      3. Explain how buying my software product will increase the profit that you make from selling PLR.

Although I have given great info for both beginners and advanced and included some tips which probably can't be found anywhere else on the internet, this still doesn't exactly make it interesting.

In reply to your post, I am not necessarily going for the soft-sell as in my opinion that doesn't work so well in the IM field.. What I am trying to do is to build credibility and also show how my product can help the prospect to increase their profits. I guess, what is now termed as 'pushing the free line'.

      Any advice greatly appreciated.

OK, I guess after reading the article you would realize this approach works best
with services and products where all the knowledge ABOUT the product doesn't
affect the sale because people want to know that YOU the seller knows your
stuff, and therefore they will come to you for the solution.

For example, as a copywriter I can give away all my "secrets" because most
of my potential clients don't want to write for themselves but just want to
know that I KNOW WHAT I AM DOING.

So what you want to do is give valuable information that people would
normally pay for (like a BIG tip) but DO NOT GIVE AWAY THE WHOLE
HOUSE. Make this like a teaser.

For example: Here are 5 ways to bla bla blah ... but there are 10 more
ways you should know about. You can even give away your BEST tip!!
This would build instant credibility for you.

So make it interesting with stories, case studies, cliff hangers (teasers)
and tell them upfront that "right here in this letter you'll discover X ways
        to ____(big benefit)"
        .

So the readers knows that even if they don't buy they are rewarded just
        for reading the letter.

        Hope this helps,
