What do you think prevents a prospect from throwing away your business greeting card? Humor...Cartoon...Interesting Photo...Offer? What would you NOT want to do?

I'd love to write something like this. QR codes are a great idea.

There are a lot of things you could do, but depending on who you are targeting and what you want out of it, I think it'd be fun to write it from the POV of Santa Claus in a non-traditional light.

Santa gives gifts for FREE based on how good or bad children are. But how does he determine it for adults? Just because you're an adult doesn't mean you don't deserve free gifts as well. And Santa understands that.

Make an offer from the big man.

Sign it "Nicholas Claus". . . The Santa thing's for babies.

Although it's not specifically direct response, I worked with a charity that sent out beer mats instead of Christmas cards...

You're looking at something like this (no affiliate link)

While it's unlikely someone will keep a Christmas card beyond 6th January, they may well have that beer mat on their desk for a whole year, and it's a great reminder that they should still be using their services!

Make the inside of the card a coupon; their "Christmas gift"... that they can redeem with you for a discount, freebie, whatever the case may be.

QR codes are an excellent idea...also, think of your business card, not as 'contact info' but as a mini-AD...It needs a strong benefit coupled with a 'call to action'.

For example "ABC Dog Grooming 555-1234" does nothing

    On the otherhand,

"Your Dog Will Feel Better And Be More Energetic"
ABC Dog Grooming Call our friendly staff Today 555-1234
"Present This Card In Store And Get A 15% Preferred Customer Discount!"

Alternately the card could offer a free nail clipping with grooming etc.

    In two parts...

    Part One:

Let them know that if they respond they can receive something that will either...

    Make them wealthier
    Make them healthier
    Make them smarter
    Make them prettier
    Make them popular
    Make them comfortable
    Make them secure
    Make them self-confident
    etc., etc.

    Part two:

    Make it FREE!
