Not much for copy, but the R. Crumb style animation from the early 70's was great!

Also, this one is fairly recent, not funny, but a well written 30 second spot.

Like some actors...Dustin Hoffman started out in commercials (from '67)

and Robert DeNiro (one of his first acting jobs -'69)
(if you like DeNiro, watch the Billy Crystal AFI intro too)

This ones not very old, but one of the best campaigns I've seen for India tourism. Covers quite a few experiences in a 2 minute spot.

Another one from India. This one was actually funny.

There was also a great spot played around the country in the 60's and 70's for City Zoos
The jingle was so good I remember it to this day - but cannot find a clip of it anywhere -
oddly, if you google the tag line there are people all over looking for it -

There was... so much wrong with that salem cig advert by today's standards you could write a dissertation on it... wow

Loved the cadbury's Gorilla... the cadbury's kids FREAK ME OUT though.

Alright... here's a few that stand out to me:

Copywriting Aspect: Implication Of Good Times Had By All With This Product

The Weird:


Copywriting Aspect: Nah... I'm just fond of this one because the fat one reminds people of me... apparently. And as much as I don't want to be considered 'that fat lumberjack bloke'... just look how HAPPY he is!!

Reebok And The Superbowl:


Copywriting Aspect: Keep 'em Reading... Your first sentence must make the prospect read the second... The first ten seconds makes you want to watch the next... I defy anyone not to watch it all the way through. There are a few of these

Finally... Versus:



Copywriting Aspect: Educate and Inspire... Few do it better than Sport Ads I think. Provide value to the audience, let them walk away with something even if they don't buy, build the goodwill, enjoy the Law of Reciprocity... but inspire them take action.

I was actually going to go with a Nike or an Adidas... but after going through them I think these are better.

I also love the old Guinness Surf Horse Ad... fond memories
