the core copywriting emotion

I studying what is known as "the golden thread of emotion" from one of the best copy guys in the world at the moment.

And was wondering if people could tell me what the core thing is that they feel as an internet marketer.

I have a good idea, being one myself. But what is the core thing that you feel on a daily basis when you are just getting started online ?

any responses appreciated

many thanks

Peter

Fear... Doubt... a healthy mixture of those probably.

Suppress them and keep on going, forgetting about the £20k of debt hanging over you because you decided to 'make it'.

But I'm an optimist, so not really representative of the rest of folks probably :p

Would you care to explain more about your take on 'the golden thread of emotion'?

    • sure the idea is that there is one core emotion that the prospect is feeling amoung all the thoughts and emotions they have and every sentence in the copy has to tug on this emotional thread so to speak.

Depends on the day. When it's a good day and things are flowing I feel great, confident, happy. I know I can do this and love it.
other days I stare at the screen and wonder "Why can't I think of a single thing to write? I know all of the information."

Wouldn't you just love to know darlin'?

Orgasmic relief I think is the operative expression here, orgasmic relief, let's just leave it at that.

Ahhhhhhhhhh. Lovelleyyy. Nothing like a jolly good piddle when you've crossing your legs for hours bustin' for a slash but couldn't go.

The core emotion you're talking about can usually be found by simply asking yourself 'how would I feel'... a reasonably socially aware individual can usually come up with a pretty good answer.

For example, I have never been turned down for a job after taking a job interview... I've never had a marriage that's been on the rocks.

But I can imagine how it would feel and I can cater to those emotions... their thoughts, feelings, wants, hopes, dreams, desires, fears and frustrations.

Maybe it's because I read a lot as a kid and watch a ton of films

I've noticed two basic descriptions of how people think about IM...

    1. Those who think of it as a video game. It's supposed to be fun and enjoyable

    2. And those who think of it as an incredibly serious business, where facts and figures count the most, and is not to be taken lightly.

I don't want to speak for Mark but... I think we're in category 2.

      This is serious business...
