Sales Letter Trick: 100% proven way to intrigue visitors to your site in less than 10 seconds

Ok, as you all know, I'm a copywriter, so I'll go ahead and give you guys 1 of my little tricks that I use to increase conversions for clients--or you can do this for yourself if you're a copywriter and sell your own products.

Here's the trick: You have less than 10 seconds to grab the attention of visitors to your website or you've lost any chance of making a sale, so there's no secret that your headline is the key to intriguing them and keeping them on your site.

As marketers, we all know that testing is the key to increasing your sales, so here's a proven way to know that your headline will work before you ever put it up:

Go to Digg.com, type in the name of your niche and find the articles will the most digs. Once you've found it, take the headline and tweak it to fit your particular product---almost 95% of the time my clients report back to me an increase in sales.

So why does this work: Well it's been tested already. There's a reason why the article has a lot of digs---people are clicking on it because of the headline, so by grabbing it and tweaking it to fit your product, you already have a proven winner.

There's no reason to reinvent the wheel or spend hours or weeks trying to come up with something that may or may not work. Go for what's already been proven to work in your market and those digging the articles are most likely in your market.

Believe it or not, a lot of successful marketers employ this same method--now you can too!

There maybe a few niches that it may not work for, but for the most part, it helps me when I try to increase client conversions. I do know another trick that works when Digg doesn't, but I won't reveal that one.

Great tip, but doesn't work with ALL niches. For example, I type *internet marketing*. The results are:

Firefox eclipses IE6 in web share, threatens IE7

IE falls below 69% market share, Firefox climbs above 21%

IE slips further as Firefox, Safari, Chrome gain

    W3Counter: Internet Explorer 67%, Firefox 25% as of July 8, 2006

Val, I'm pretty sure that you did it wrong.

Step 1: Click the search button on Digg.

Step 2: Type in your niche or subject you're after

      Step 3: Choose titles only

      Step 4: Choose all stories

Step 5: Choose sort by most Diggs

Step 6: click the search button and see what you get

For Internet marketing---you should get "Top 10 Worst Internet Marketing Videos Ever"

Now i would not use this as a headline for a sales letter, but I would use it as an autoresponder title. This has over 700 Diggs, which lets me know that people are interested in the title and when you send it out, people are more likely to open your email.

Your email will tell a little about the worst videos, then if part of your business is showing people how to make videos or if you do videos for people, this will be your angle to reel them in to do business with you.

Tell them a little about the worst videos and then say something like--"You don't have to risk creating videos like these, instead you can let a team of professional video marketers create a high-impact video that draws in visitors to your site like steel to a magnet & have them scrambling for the buy button before it's over."

      You know, something like that.

Now, for my niche--Copywriting I get "The Ultimate Copywriting Cheat Sheet"

I used this a week ago and the open rate was 72%.

Of course I didn't really give them a cheat sheet.

Here's a copy of what my email said once people opened it:

Blues icon B.B. King was once asked how he
      found his heart-warming, bone-chilling sound.

"It's simple," he said. "I only steal from
      the best."

After publishing more than 2 million words
      -- online and print -- I'm convinced that B.B.
      King was right.

To become a good writer, one must first be a
studious reader.(How else will you know whom
      to steal..I mean, borrow from?)

But as a marketer with products and services
to get out, who really has time to read
themselves into being a good copywriter?

Well, the good news is that now you don't have
to because I've compiled a team of writers
that I've personally trained and started
a membership where you can get all the sales
letters you want each month for just $97 bucks,
      that's it.

It's the ultimate cheat sheet to ensuring that you
      have great copy.

      Check it out here: http://www.nolimitcopy.com

I certainly get the wrong idea, now is very clear. For email marketing could work!!
You know, I'm NOT a copy boy but I was able to write a pretty good sales letter
        for myself.

        Thx,

I see what you are saying, and I see it as a way to get ideas. Still, you shouldnt overlook it, because... they dont get diggs for Headline only.

        Content+headline...

And they may already have a list and a relationship with the crowd. Like John Reeses Fish Tank, which got digged a gazillion times. Not because the headline. Because the content.

Better learn how to write a solid headline, sorry.. this is for the gullible.

It's a weak concept on many levels.

And yes, that's my two cents.
